Whatever happened to Perry's mother, Mabel? For issues, the question has floated, and now we discover the fate of our heroine. As Benton relives his path from monster to reconciliation and Perry desperately tries to return with the one thing he believes can save his father, the goddess Lethe probes deep into both men's pasts to bring back the one pain neither of them can live with.

Well never let it be said that no matter what you do you cannot escape your family, because you can’t. They will always be a part of you, the good, the bad and everything in between. Their genetics are yours and they will always be a part of you that’s inescapable but it all depends on what choices you make once you realise that are what really define you and Perry’s at that point in his life where those decisions are what we are seeing. He might think his dad was a bad man and killed people but it’s still his dad and blood are the ties that bind. Of course it doesn’t help when your travelling with a god and Lethe is amazing.

The way that this is being told is fantastic! The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of event unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented beautifully. The opening is really nice and it’s a chance to see Perry like we’ve never seen him before and full disclosure I can relate to what he says and how it’s better to be underestimated because I believe that too. The character development is superb and as we see the dialogue as well as how they act and react to the situations and circumstances they encounter we really start to see the bigger picture here. The pacing is great and as it takes us through the pages revealing more and more of the story we begin to get a better understanding of who he is.

I like how we see this being structured and how the layers run through the book bringing different aspects of his and his father to life. I mean it’s both fun and emotional in this weird mashup kind of way and i’m pretty impressed by it. The way that we see everything working together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as move the story constantly forward is magnificent to see.

The interiors here are lovely. The linework we see is laid down with the varying weights really do wonders in bringing out the detail work here. That scene with all the trees is bloody lovely. I mean seriously throughout the entire book how we see the detail work along with the backgrounds being utilised in the composition within the panels is so well rendered. They manage to bring us some great depth perception, a sense of scale and that overall sense of size and scope to the story. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a very talented eye for storytelling. The colour work is laid down beautifully as well. How we see the various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work shows some nice skill and talent whose eye for how colour works is fantastic!

This is an utterly delightful book and how the council treats people and how we see Perry finally finding the courage alongside Lethe to take a stand feels like its one of those pivotal moments in the series. This is where things get intensely exciting and the future of what’s possible seems to have changed forever and I hope so too because this was just one heck of a character driven issue that just hits all the right notes.
