Blind Item rumor goes from 'General Hospital' to 'The Young and the Restless'

Kelly Monaco, Laura Wright, and now Michelle Stafford are alleged to be leaving their soaps.

Last week a"blind item" suggested that an actress on GENERAL HOSPITAL was leaving the ABC soap. Laura Wright and Kelly Monaco were named as two cast members who might be disgruntled and wanting to leave. Wright's boyfriend Wes Ramsey has been let go and there is speculation that she might follow him. Kelly Monaco voiced her anger when Billy Miller was fired as Drew Cain and now the character is being recast with Cameron Mathison.

The rumor mill suspects that this might be a reason for Kelly to say goodbye to Port Charles. Now the story has changed to "a popular actress on "A" soap. This could be anybody on the four remaining daytime drama shows, but today's pick is Michelle Stafford who plays Phyllis on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. Stafford originated this role then left Y&R to portray Nina Reeves on ABC's GENERAL HOSPITAL.

Once upon a time when spoilers were leaked, and trusted sources revealed the information the reports accurate. Now the rumor mill runs with anything that is suggested and the Internet goes wild over it. No reason has been given for pulling Michelle Stafford's name out of the hat so it's probably only speculation. Stafford was lured away from GENERAL HOSPITAL and Gina Tognoni was fired so that she could take on the role of Phyllis again. The brass at Y&R promised some exciting storylines when the original redhead returned but they have failed to do that.

Phyllis was for a time obsessed with Adam and Chance and then later with getting even with Abby. The bickering and back and forth related to The Grand Phoenix annoyed most Y&R viewers. The reunion with Nick is not really going over great with the fans because these two are never able to make it long. The one area where Phyllis shines is being a mother to Summer. Right now fans are impressed at the way she has been so supportive of the relationship with Kyle as well as her advising her daughter to take things slow and not make any rash decisions.

If the actress who is leaving is indeed on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS a better guess might be Hunter King. The writers are putting Summer in a no win situation by bringing in Kyle's ex and a 3 year old son. It's looking like Summer will take the job offer and leave town. Phyllis is trying to talk her out of making such a drastic move but every indication is that she will do just that. I'm not sure how the rumor went from being a GENERAL HOSPITAL actress to simply being "A" high-profile soap star, to Michelle Stafford being the one but until the truth is revealed the rumors will continue.

For those who are not familiar with a blind item it is something that gives details of a true situation without revealing any names. What has been reported in this situation is that a high profile actress is moving on from the soap where she has been employed. Yesterday it was being reported that the daytime drama was GENERAL HOSPITAL but there is nothing to substantiate this. Speculation is all over the place and tomorrow it could be an actress from THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL OR DAYS OF OUR LIVES.

One thing that is known for certain and that is there are 4 soaps still on the air. A female actress on one of them is leaving but the question is why the secrecy. One of the most high profile actresses in daytime is Kristian Alphonso who portrayed Hope Brady on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. She was very open with the public when she decided to leave. The viewing public will eventually find out who the soap star is so why the need for so much mystery?
