The epic conclusion is at hand... Can Bermuda and her friends survive?! Can THE WORLD even survive?! The door between dimensions is finally open, thanks to the science of our world, and the sorcery of Bermuda’s. Now both worlds are threatened, and the only hope for either is the brave 16-year-old island adventurer known as Bermuda!

All things considered I guess it’s a good thing the cavalry came when they did because had they seen there was a way home I could only imagine how much more chaos would ensue. This cross between Lord of the Flies and Peter Pan delights through some extremely fun writing and characterisation alongside some phenomenal interiors that really make the creativity and imagination work overtime. Of course with Pirates, Mer and an old man who forgot what it was like to fight for what you believe in, how in the fate of two worlds will they manage to save the day? Sigh just once I'd like to see a small force of say four or five folks willing to go through a portal and not an entire branch of the military with their guns blazing. Science should outweigh military might every single time and I stand behind this!

I like the way that this is being told. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented exceptionally well. The character development that we see through the dialogue, the character interaction as well as how we see them act and react to the situations and circumstances which they encounter does a marvellous job in keeping the personalities front and centre in the story. The pacing is excellent and as it takes us through the pages revealing more and more of the story I’m left with unanswered questions, like how did that Mer know to use that spell when the portal opened anyway?

I am very much enjoying the way that this is being structured and how we see the layers within the story continue to emerge, grow, evolve and strengthen. I also really enjoy how the layers open up new avenues to be explored, though some will have to wait for next time, and how they add depth, dimension and complexity to the story. Also dad’s musing over his son was a stellar moment instead of demanding he do the opposite of his plans. How we see everything working together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward is impeccably achieved.

The creativity and imagination of what we see within these pages is spectacular. I like the idea of that Angler Fish man and then well what he induces in the warrior is kind of just wicked nasty. The linework is phenomenal and how we see the varying weights and techniques being utilised to create this level & quality of work in the attention to detail that we see is utterly glorious. The way we see backgrounds being utilised to enhance and expand the moments as well as how they work within the composition of the panels to bring out the depth perception, sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the story is excellent work. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels shows a masterful eye for storytelling. The various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work whos a magnificent understanding of how colour works and how to maximise its effects.

I like that this issue does indeed end the arc but also leaves things open ended so that we can revisit this world should these fine folks decide they need to tell more. I mean c’mon i’ve questions about both sides of this dimension now and wouldn’t mind seeing some things explored even further. It’s a great new franchise that with an entire world of colourful characters just waiting for some time to really shine.
