In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kevin Feige, the boss of Marvel Studios, discussed the upcoming release of Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, which will kick off Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

He talked about the decision to explore the Quantum Realm and how he always thought Kang would be an amazing follow-up to Thanos.

However, the Marvel boss also spoke about the studio’s foray into television and how Phase 4 opened the gates to new characters and their respective series on Disney+.

Feige discussed what he’s learned since releasing multiple shows and confirmed that future products would have their time to shine. He stated the following:

“I do think one of the powerful aspects of being at Marvel Studios is having these films and shows hit the zeitgeist,”

“It is harder to hit the zeitgeist when there’s so much product out there — and so much ‘content,’ as they say, which is a word that I hate.”

“But we want Marvel Studios and the MCU projects to really stand out and stand above. So, people will see that as we get further into Phase 5 and 6. The pace at which we’re putting out the Disney+ shows will change so they can each get a chance to shine.”

My understanding from Feige's statement indicates that Marvel Studios will change the pace of releasing Disney+ shows to ensure each of them gets a chance to shine.

This could mean that Marvel may release fewer shows in a year or space them out more. However, Feige confirmed that the change would be in both the pace of release and the amount of series put out in a year.

Interestingly, Marvel Studios’ foray into television was met with critical acclaim and a huge success. Phase 4 introduced new characters and their respective series on Disney+.

These shows, such as WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki, were received well by audiences and have been widely popular.

Feige’s statement about the change in the pace of Disney+ shows suggests that Marvel Studios is aware of the challenges they face in a crowded streaming market.

There is so much content out there that it is hard for any show to stand out, let alone be a hit. This is why Marvel Studios wants its projects to stand above the rest and hit the zeitgeist.

By spacing out its releases, Marvel Studios can ensure that each show has a fair chance of standing out and becoming a hit.

This approach could also give Marvel Studios more time to work on each project and ensure that each one is of high quality.

It is also worth noting that Marvel Studios has several movies lined up for Phases 5 and 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so spacing out the Disney+ shows could help manage the workload.

Final Words

Kevin Feige’s recent statement about changing the pace of Disney+ shows indicates that Marvel Studios is aware of the challenges they face in a crowded streaming market.

By spacing out their releases, Marvel can ensure that each show has a chance to shine and become a hit. This approach could also give Marvel Studios more time to work on each project and ensure that each one is of high quality.

Overall, it will be interesting to see how Marvel Studios manages the release of its Disney+ shows in the coming years.
