Is Anthony Geary serious or joking about a GH return?

Anthony Geary retired from General Hospital and his role as Luke Spencer in 2015 and made a brief appearance again in 2017 when Jane Elliot (Tracy Quartermaine) taped her final episode. Spoiler alerts have worked overtime during the past few years suggesting, projecting, and in some cases actually saying the actor would reprise his popular character. Geary has done everything he could to imply he was done with Hollywood but loyal Luke fans continue to ignore him.

The soap vet said he loved living in the Netherlands in Amsterdam where people did not get into your personal business and yet the rumors continued that he would return to General Hospital. Even after the death of Victor Cassadine, and the explosion that blew up Luke's boat the Haunted Star some fans refuse to believe the handwriting is on the wall.

Laura Collins (Genie Francis) said the destruction of the ship and Victor's death ended the Luke chapter in her life but the rumors continued that Geary was coming back. In Facebook groups, fans continue to post that they believed Luke is out there somewhere. Now, Geary has made a direct statement about coming back to Port Charles and he could not have made his feelings any clearer but some may take it as a joke. Perhaps he staged the entire thing to admit how he really feels in a roundabout manner so fans would stop bugging him about a return to Port Charles.

Thanks but no thanks

Geary was in the comedic web soap This Show Sucks: Truth + Consequences which was dropped by Jim Warren on May 29. The soap vet plays a star of a show within a show and was asked if he would return to the ABC soap and he said: “You must be nuts,” “No thanks.” Some General Hospital fans will consider this a joke but, after 8 years of retirement with only a 60-second cameo it's clear that Anthony Geary is done with General Hospital and Luke Spencer.

Soap fans understand that several actors who said they would not return to daytime have done just that because people can change their minds. Geary, however, has said enough that it's time he is taken seriously. The actor has been private about his love lie except to say he dated Elizabeth Taylor for 2 years decades ago. This has led to speculation about his sexuality which he has said is nobody's business.

Some General Hospital viewers are holding out hope that something in the will of Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) might indicate that Luke is being held captive somewhere as is Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Haus). This cannot be ruled out but the chances seem slim and still, there are fans who hang onto hope. Victor's will was read on Tuesday and not everyone who was supposed to benefit from his will was in attendance like Sam McCall ( Kelly Monaco) and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes). Spoilers have said Victor would cause Anna to go to prison so perhaps this comes later.

Only time will tell for certain whether or not Anthony Geary will change his mind but with Victor gone who would be caring for him if he is imprisoned somewhere? Holly Sutton ( Emma Samms) and her son Ethan Lovett (James Ryan) escaped captivity and neither of them mentioned Luke but still some fans are hoping Geary might return. Be on the lookout for spoilers and updates for General Hospital and keep watching because time will reveal if this is the end of Luke based on his portrayer saying he would have to be crazy to go back.
