News has emerged that The Big Bang Theory spin-off series, Young Sheldon, has added another face to their cast list. The actress, Annie Potts, has joined the comedy spin-off show as Sheldon's grandmother a.k.a. Meemaw. Meemaw was regularly mentioned by Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory, who says she is perfect in every way possible. Viewers of the hit comedy sitcom saw Meemaw (played by June Squibb) for the very first time during Season 9. However, Young Sheldon will show fans a different side of Meemaw, as Potts's version of the characters has been described as Sheldon’s “foul-mouthed, hard-drinking Texas grandmother who is very supportive of her grandson and his unique gifts.” Yet, where have we seen Potts in the past?

Throughout her acting career, Potts is known for a wide selection of roles, which vary from Ghostbusters (1984) to Pretty In Pink (1986). However, some of her notable roles are as the sweet character, Bo Peep, in Toy Story (1995) and Toy Story 2 (1999). Tragically, Bo Peep was left out of Toy Story 3 in 2010, which didn't go down well with Disney fans. However, Potts will be making a comeback to the world of the living toys as it has been confirmed that Bo Peep will be returning for Toy Story 4, which is currently in pre-production, and set for release in 2019.

Before the times of Toy Story, Potts was well-known for playing the fictional character Janine Melnitz in the Ghostbusters franchise. Melnitz is the Ghostbusters' secretary, confidante and a Ghostbuster herself on some occasions. Potts played Melnitz in both Ghostbusters movies before voicing Janine in Ghostbusters: The Video Game in 2009.

Now, Potts Is A 'Foul-Mouthed' Grandmother

As it stands, it's currently unknown which episode Potts will first appear in, or in how many episodes she will actually appear. From arguments on the phone or debates in person, is Sheldon's young Meemaw the reason he isn't a fan of swearing?

We've seen Sheldon have arguments on the phone many times, and from what fans can work out, Sheldon tends to lose, as whoever is on the other end of the line often ends the debate with strong language that Sheldon doesn't like to use. As Sheldon once said:

"Well, that's some salty language. May I remind you that you're the president of a major university, not president of the Potty Mouth Club. There it is again. Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?"

This shows that grandmothers may seem sweet and innocent on the outside; however, on the inside there's a dark and sinister personality waiting to burst out. This was shown when we first met Meemaw in The Big Bang Theory in Season 9. She appeared all cuddly and sweet like a teddy bear, but the moment Amy arrived, the mood changed, as Meemaw hates Amy with a passion, particularly because she split up with Sheldon.
