'Ambitions' Finale Cliffhanger and Possible Return Date

The season's finale of Ambitions on OWN aired on Tuesday, December 17, 2019. It ended with a nail-biting cliffhanger. The final episode included more of what the series had been about all season with greed, power, deceit, deception, blackmail, schemes and politics.

Stephanie, played by Robin Givens, was in almost every scene of the finale. She had altercations with so many people that the final episode could have been titled The Stephanie Carlisle Lancaster Show.

Stephanie and Bella

Stephanie let herself into the loft where Bella lives with her young son. Stephanie confronts Bella about her long affair with her husband and having a son by him. She tells Bella that life as she knew it was over. She threatens to take the loft away from Bella. She says she might even sue for custody of Bella's son since she is after all his stepmother.

Stephanie and Evan

When Evan goes home, Stephanie fires a bullet into the door by his head. She lets him know that she knows about Bella and Joaquin. She says their marriage is over and she wants a divorce.

Stephanie and Damian

Damian has a video of Stephanie and Greg Peters making love. He is blackmailing her. He asked for $20 million and a private plane to take him away. Stephanie has other plans for Damian. She hires someone to grab him from his car and tie him up in a cabin where Stephanie shows up and tasers him. Amara follows Stephanie and sees what she is doing to Damian. She pleads with Stephanie to stop torturing Damian. When Damian gets free, he throws Stephanie against the wall and chokes her. In order to save Stephanie's life, Amara hits Damian over the head with a shovel.

Stephanie checks Damian on the floor and tells Amara that he is dead. She convinces Amara to leave. Rashid shows up at the crime scene to clean up the mess. He begins to leave a message to tell Stephanie that the cabin is empty. Damian comes up behind Rasid and knocks him out with the same shovel that Amara had used to knock him out earlier.

Stephanie and Her Father

Stephanie tries to blackmail her father into retiring and putting her in charge of the law firm. She and her mother plan a retirement party for him. Stephanie thinks her father is going to announce that she is his replacement. Stephen reveals that mogul Marvin Barnes and his wife Marilyn want him to personally handle their accounts. He announces he is not retiring. Instead, Stephanie will now focus on being Atlanta’s first lady.

Titus

Titus was hit by a car while talking to Amara on his cell phone. The surgeon tells Amara that her husband had a successful surgery, but he was not out of the woods yet. Amara says she knows it was Damian who tried to kill him. Titus was still groggy and whispered to his wife that it was not Damian. He tries to tell her who ran him over, but he goes into cardiac arrest and the medical team rushes in and tries to save him. It appears that Titus flatlines and is dead.

Darcia and Rondell

Darcia continues her fight with Rondell over Thelma's Place. She is determined to get a big sum of money before she returns to Chicago. She goes behind her cousin's back and sells her ownership in the restaurant to Greg Peters who accomplishes her to meet with Rondell at the restaurant. After Peters spews out heated words to Rondell along with a warning, she spits in his face.

Hunter and Stephen Carlisle

After the board removes Hunter Purifoy from his position at his own company, he drinks himself into a stupor. He goes uninvited to Stephen's retirement party. The drunken and disheveled Hunter screams at Stephen for destroying his company and ruining his life. Then he pulls out a gun and starts shooting in the crowd. A security guard tackles Hunter as Evan runs to shield Stephanie.

The Finale Cliffhanger

Ambitions ends with the possibility of death of some of the cast because of the gunshots. Viewers only heard the shots but did not see who was hit before the credits started rolling.

Renewed or Canceled?

As of this writing, there has been no official word about the series been renewed or canceled. Keep your fingers crossed because the first season reached a million viewers for only three of the 18 episodes. It averaged only 716,000 viewers throughout the season.

If Ambitions is renewed, it will probably return sometime around June 2020. That date is assumed because the first season began on June 18, 2019, and mid-season began on November 12, 2019.

There is a statement on The Cinemaholic that says, "All the main cast members are expected to return for season 2." If that is true, it tells us two things: none of the main cast members died, and the series will be renewed.
