Ever since Disney launched its streaming service Disney+, announcements and rumors have been flooding the internet with what new Disney+ specific series or movies will be coming out on the platform. Some of the biggest announcements and rumors have involved the Marvel and Star Wars franchises since they are really popular with content now. Disney has decided to capitalize on that by giving fans various different series based on their favorite characters or comic storylines. However, Marvel and Star Wars are not the only series and movies coming to Disney+. In fact, there are several that might just surprise you.

In terms of the Marvel series that are rumored to come to Disney+ in 2022 and in the next few years, there are several that really have fans excited. Marve and Disney have already released several series on Disney+, starting with WandaVision at the beginning of 2021. They followed that up with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, and Hawkeye. Here are a few more that are reportedly coming to Disney+: Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Ironheart, Armor Wars, I Am Groot, Wakanda, Echo, Loki (Season 2), What If…? (Season 2), Agatha: House of Harkness, X-Men ’97, Spider-Man: Freshman Year, and Marvel Zombies. These are just the ones that we have titles for. Marvel fans will have no want for content over the next few years on Disney+.

The release of The Mandalorian in 2019 started the Star Wars path on the Disney+ platform and opened the door for shows as part of a major film series that Marvel would soon follow suit in 2021. So far, we have had The Mandalorian Season 2 and The Book of Boba Fett, along with Star Wars: Visions, and Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Of course, Lucasfilm and Disney have no plans to stop there. There is definitely a slate of shows that Lucasfilm and Disney are reportedly working on. These are what we know so far: The Mandalorian Season 3, Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka, Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic, The Acolyte, Lando, and A Droid Story. For the avid Star Wars fans, the promise of these series reportedly coming to Disney+ is very exciting and something to eagerly look forward to.

In terms of non-Star Wars and Marvel content, there are quite a few other series, both animated and live-action, that are reportedly coming to Disney+. Here is the list of what we know so far.

In February of 2022, we have a third season revival of The Proud Family, which is an animated television series that originally aired on Disney Channel from 2001 to 2005. The revival is titled The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder and will feature much of the original cast.

Anime fans will be ecstatic. Black Rock Shooter: Dawn Fall is set to come out in April 2022, and is a reboot of the Japanese anime series Black Rock Shooter created by Ryohei Fuke.

Probably one of the most anticipated Disney+ series is coming out this summer in 2022. It will feature Baymax as the titular character in Baymax! The series follows the adventures of one of Pixar’s most beloved animated characters.

These are just the ones that we have the tentative release times for. There are quite a few more that have been announced.

Cars on the Road is another series that was announced along with an all-new series called Iwájú, which is a story from a Pan-African comic book company Kugali.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Season 3 is also on the slate with rumors as to what the latest season has in store. Although we have yet to know the release date, Disney seems to be hinting that there will be a Frozen element to it this time.

Willow, which is based on the 1988 film with Warwick Davis as the main character is set to come to Disney+, this time as a television series.

Win or Lose is another upcoming series. This one is based on a middle school softball team and will be Pixar’s first long-form series.

Zootopia+ is one of the series that Disney is planning that is based on one of their animated features. Along with Zootopia+, they are planning on bringing Princess Tiana back with her own show titled Tiana. Moana is also getting her own series called Moana, The Series. Beauty and the Beast is also reportedly getting a live-action prequel following Gaston and LeFou.

One of the most recent exciting announcements for fans is that Tim Allen is coming to Disney+ and reprising his role in a limited series The Santa Clause. The series is set after The Santa Clause trilogy and follows Scott Calvin’s realization that as he gets older, he may not be able to keep being Santa. We do not have a release date as of yet.

National Treasure is also reportedly getting its own series. It is rumored to be a reboot, but we do not know what this would entail if that is in fact the case. The hit book series The Spiderwick Chronicles is also getting its own series.

As of right now, not a lot is known about many of the reported series coming to Disney+. Disney has been very tight-lipped, even of series with multiple seasons. One thing Disney does like to do is randomly drop that they have a new trailer or a series is premiering earlier than they originally said, so keep a lookout for more news. Even on January 17, Marvel fans were surprised to see that Moon Knight was going to be the next Marvel series to come out, premiering on March 30, 2022. Who knows what Disney will have up their sleeve next?
