Our next cosmic entity worth discussing is Adam Warlock. A character we know for a fact that we will see in the MCU, upon our next journey with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Now he has already appeared in the MCU by all technicalities in the second Guardians of the Galaxy movie and it is confirmed that we will see more of him in this next outing.

Another cosmic character created and introduced by the dream team of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby originally only named Him. Roy Thoman and Jim Starlin are actually the team more responsible for developing the the character as we know him today. Adam Warlock is the first cosmic being we’ve discussed whose existence actually originated on earth. He was created to be the next evolution of humanity that was until he went against his creator's plan, comes across High Evolutionary and gets his new name, Adam Warlock. He becomes the hero of the universe, often wielding the soul stone (which is an infinity gem in the comics) and serves as the leader of the Infinity Watch.

There were many sources of inspiration for the character of Adam Warlock. He possesses many Christ parallels, and his costume is inspired by the original Fawcett Comics Captain Marvel. He had a brief introduction in a few issues of Fantastic Four and got a deeper origin in Marvel Premier, but his first solo outing was in 1972 in an 8 issue series titled The Power of Warlock. Starlin was really the spearhead for the evolution of his character, he recalled his involvement at the beginning in 2009; “I had quit [the cosmic superhero series] Captain Marvel over a dispute at that point, but I settled the dispute with Marvel and I was going to come back [to that title]. But [a different team was in place]. So Roy [Thomas] asked me [what character] I wanted to do. So I went home that night and pulled out a bunch of comics. I came across, in the Fantastic Four, Him, and came back the next day and said that's who I wanted to do, and that night I started working on it... I had basically taken Captain Marvel, a warrior, and turned him into sort of a messiah-type character. So when I got to Warlock, I said to myself, 'I got a messiah right here to start off with; where do I go from there?' And I decided a paranoid schizophrenic was the route to take.”

Adam Warlock was most prevalent in all of the Infinity storylines; Revelation, quest, conflict, countdown, watch, entity, crusade wars…there are many infinity stories and they are all wonderful(Marvel attached itself to Infinity the way DC attached itself to Crisis). He is also a character that has died and been resurrected many times over, he is a character that gets stronger with every resurrection. His other major storyline was Annihilation: Conquest. This is the storyline where Adam Warlock gets involved with the Guardians of the Galaxy, a team on which he served as a member on multiple occasions. I have no idea how they are going to bring that into the MCU in its current state but we will find out soon enough.

Overall I have high hopes for Adam Warlock’s introduction into the MCU and though this next movie is going to be the last Guardians movie at least for a while I am hopeful that with the introduction of other cosmic characters that we will most definitely be seeing more of Adam Warlock. He is too rich of a character to waste.
