A Super Announcement

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes

"Logan, you don't have to do this. There are other options."

"Well, it's too late for that sort of decision-making, Patton. My mind is made up."

"I don't want you to take such a huge risk."

Logan brought Patton to the window and saw, from above, many townsfolk looking up in their direction.

"It'll be okay, my love," Logan kissed Patton before leaping.

The screams of civilians surrounded him as gravity shoved him. As he got closer to the crowd, he turned into particles of electricity, and moved his way to the other side of the crowd. Patton was able to see the whole thing with his eagle eyes, and rushed down as inconspicuously as possible.

The civilians felt a mixture of emotions ranging from shock to concern to confusion to relief. They all looked in Logan's direction, and saw as he put his hand out all of a sudden. Following his stare, they can see a hotdog cart float over their heads in his direction. He made two hotdogs and paid for both before sending the cart back. As a result, everyone whispered amongst themselves. Logan heard what questions they were thinking and then asking.

"To settle this once and for all, yes, I, Logan Tesla, am the Cerebral Cor-Flex," Logan declared and gritted his teeth at the last phrase.

When he was younger, he had trouble coming up with a name that summarized his powers. He wanted something that would capture his intelligence and powers related to his brain. Patton suggested a few puns before their friend, Roman, decided on "Cerebral Cor-Flex" as a way of being hip. As embarrassed as Logan was, after looking at the definition on Urban Dictionary, he found it clever enough to use and stuck to it since, but never stopped being embarrassed.

The reveal of his identity caught the attention of everyone in the crowd, and some people even pulled their phones out if they didn't already.

"I can tell a lot of you are wondering why I'm revealing myself now. Well, after over a decade of dimming down crime here, quickly looking for solutions to the problems we face, and even finding it easier to repress struggles in the public eye for the sake of everyone's confidence, I'd like to announce that I'm retiring along with my husband..."

A corgi ran through the crowd and towards Logan. He hugged the corgi as it slowly changed into Patton and hugged back. After kissing his head, Logan turned to the crowd with Patton and finished with "... Patton Truffle AKA All Animalian".

Many sounds were erupted from the crowd (icks, cheers, huhs, etc.) and Patton kept his ear out for any questions. He heard someone in the middle of the crowd ask "Is there more to your message?" and he chuckled as a result.

"Logan and I have heard of unfortunate cases where heroes have had their identities revealed, and their messages spread after their death, so we wanted to make sure that sort of situation doesn't happen to us," Patton explained.

"Precisely, Patton. Our community still has our flaws here and there, the world beyond the city limit has their flaws, but, as superhuman as we both are, we're just two people. Even if there were other superhumans out there, they're still individuals with their own struggles and limits."

"We reveal ourselves before retirement not for the sake of popularity, but to show that a hero of any size or any ability can come from anywhere. Just like how a decent human would help keep aisles clean for grocery store employees, or make a table at a restaurant less messy than what would tire out a waiter after you leave, it wouldn't hurt to make things easier for potential superhumans among us by being good to each other and making the world better, however we can."

Patton held Logan's hand and snuggled close the more intelligent superhuman with a cute smile that showed his freckles more.

"As for us, we'll still do our part, but on an infinitesimal scale. What might be a small action for some might mean so much to others. Feel free to chat with us if you see us, but just remember we're human like you, so we might not have too much time. Until then, remember you all have your skills and views for a reason, so please put them to good use, everyone."

After they were done talking, the crowd cheered and they lifted their held hands into the sky before Logan turned into electrical particles and Patton turned into an eagle.

"We could've retired quietly, you know," Patton thought, knowing Logan would hear him.

"I know, but I enjoy answering questions before they're asked," the group of particles responded.

The couple chuckled as the crowd cheered, and they flew home together.
