'A Breaking Bad Movie'

'El Camino'

This movie was highly anticipated. Everyone wanted to know what happened to Jesse at the end of Breaking Bad. I will go on to say that I loved how they started the movie right from the last scene, in the show where we saw Jesse freed from capture, driving away.

It felt like an extension of the show, really. I loved how Jesse's friends were right there for him, when he came to them needing help. It was needed really, because he helped them so much.

Another part that I really enjoyed was the backtracking, showing us what Jesse went through while he was locked up, and the show was focused more on Walt and everything going on with him. It really helped gain a sense of all the hardships he did experience, though the switches between the present setting and the past setting at the beginning were kind of getting a little old, and at some points seemed almost unneeded for the story line.

We see as well just how much of an outcast he really is, as on the news, his own parents are telling him to turn himself if. Other parents would never even consider telling their children that, but we know that they gave up on him long ago.

Showing how he is willing to do anything to get away, tearing apart an entire apartment to find a secret stash of money, showed just how desperate he was. He really went through the entire apartment, even tearing apart the wallpaper. I must admit, hiding money in the fridge door is pretty genius; it really is the last place anyone would think to hide money.

The apartment scene in general was probably one of the most exciting moments of the movie. When those fake cops came in, it was a twist I do not think we were expecting. At the beginning, they acted kind of off, but I mean, I did not think anything of it. Maybe that just shows how bad at picking things up I am. But when it all switched, it all made sense. And then, when Jesse remembered him, that was an informational flashback to how he helped in the installation of Jesse’s entrapment device, if you would say.

You could see just how desperate Jesse was for that fresh start. All he wanted was to just leave and begin a new life, and he was not taking "no" as an answer. He pretty much went to every single vacuum shop, searching for the guy that Saul had originally set him up with.

It was very much on brand for Jesse to play with his parents’ emotions again. However, this time it felt really touching when he told his parents that him turning out the way he is had nothing to do with them, as parents. That it was all on him. Then, you know it was only right for him to break into their house to steal a gun.

The second most interesting part was at that warehouse, where he meets the "fake cop," once more asking for more money. Randomly, not sure if it was the coke talking, it turned into a Wild West scenario with a draw happening, winner living and keeping the extra $1800 that Jesse needed. Smart on Jesse for having two guns, the other guy never stood a chance. Then, it was stupid of the other guy to start shooting; he would have still been alive if he didn’t.

The ending of the movie, I found was sort of lackluster. It was smart, making it open-ended so that, this way, there is always a possibility for the future. But, just driving off into the sunset seemed so lackluster for a show that always gave us so much more. The ending of the show was so much better than this, because there were those elements of surprise. This ending, it really was just him getting a new start. It would have been nice if there was another shock to come before it all just ended.
