Logan moved from the chair to the couch as it was more comfortable. Dr. Yoshita said he was going to be right back and to not go anywhere, but didn't say why. Best guess was so he could try to get ahold of the university president, but again, didn't say. Logan looked up at the ceiling and started to count the holes; he was getting bored fast. About that time Dr. Yoshita returned, sitting back down at his desk, writing.

"You don't mind that I'm sitting over here, do you?" Logan asked

"Not at all, that couch doesn't get enough use." Dr. Yoshita began, "The university president is on his way from Sendai and will give his answer tomorrow. In the meantime, after my notes here, I need to take you to another room for some testing"

"I'm guessing no one's seen this before" Logan trailed.

"Oh yes, we were able to cure a man from Hokkaido who hadn't fully changed yet. That was simple. You're different as the length of time was more, not that it was your fault." Dr. Yoshita explained.

Logan sat back in the couch and sighed, "Just my luck, right? Do you know how Sara is doing?"

Dr. Yoshita stopped writing and looked up, "Logan-san, what is your relationship to her?"

Logan looked at him, "We met on the plane ride out here and created a spark. There's defenatly something there."

"You realize she has lung cancer then, yes?" Dr. Yoshita began, "Normally an incurable disease."

"Yes, that's why she flew here." Logan replied, "To see what the university could do for her."

Dr. Yoshita rested the pen on his chin, thinking, then replied, "Interesting. The two of you have just met and yet talk our ears off like a married couple separated for the first time."

Dr. Yoshita sighed, pushed his chair back, and motioned for Logan to follow him. They went through a side door and landed in a hallway. This hallway had few doors and the only spot of color was the wood handrails. They came to a door marked 'Evans, S.' and stopped, "Try not to excite her, I'm not sure what state she's in as I'm not her doctor."

"But her doctor reports to you, yes?" Logan asked

"He does, which is how I'm able to bring you here. When you're done, have Dr. Hara bring you back to my office so we can get the testing out of the way before something else changes."

Logan entered the room and Dr. Yoshita walked away. The room was your typical hospital room: White walls, TV, tiled floor, etc.. - Logan stopped in the entryway of the room. Sara layed in the bed with some monitoring equipment hooked up to her and was beeping. It must have been normal because there weren't any alarms or buzzers going off. Logan remained in the entryway, looking over Sara like a protective parent when she moved. She was first on her back, then rolled over so she faced Logan, eyes open,

"I see you there mister Logan. Why don't you come over here." she taunted.

"I need you to promise me you won't scream or call for a nurse or anything irrational, ok?" Logan asked seriously, talking with his hands.

Sara sat up, "Why would I do that?" she began, "We have what most couples do not I think; pure love."

Logan took a deep breath, moved out of the shadows, and sat down on the bed, wondering what was going to happen next, "I see you have ears." Sara said sarcastically, "When did they appear? I'm pretty sure they weren't there on the plane."

"No." Logan began, "They appeared while talking to the Doc, so half-hour or so ago."

Sara reached out and began rubbing one of the ears, noting how they felt soft as plush. Logan laid down next to her in a cuddling pose, keeping her close to him. He rested his face on the back of Sara's neck and began purring. It wasn't a cat-like motor purr, more like a low-pitch whine purr. A true lovers embrace. About that time a man wearing a lab coat entered. He looked to be in his late fourtiess and had a clipboard in his hand, so he had the result of something.

"What are you doing here?" the man asked, attempting to force English.

Logan sat up, "I came to check on Sara, see how she's doing."

"Hai." the man began, " You must be Logan-san then. Dr. Yoshita said you would be here. Come with me please."

Logan got up and both men left the room. The empty hallway was now occupied by doctors and nurses entering and leaving rooms. Logan and the man began walking back towards Dr. Yoshita's office when he paused, "Logan-san I'm Dr. Hara as you may have guessed. I have overlooked Sara-chan's care with her cancer." he began, "Do you know how far along it is?"

"I don't." Logan replied.

"No matter," Dr. Hara replied, "She's in good care here."

"Why do I feel as I've missed something important." Logan asked, "Like I was supposed to know how long she's had her cancer."

"Don't mistake my questioning Logan-san, I am a inquisioning individual. The Japanese have thrived on research, medicine, and technology. Without them, we wouldn't have a department to study them. My point is Logan-san, even if the questions appear missing, they aren't."

The remaining walk back to Dr. Yoshita's office seemed quicker than before. Maybe it was because Logan knew the way, having only done this once in either direction. Upon entering the office, Dr. Hara smiled and left, knowing where everyone stood on why Logan was there, why Sara was there, and what's there between Logan and Sara.
