There is quite a stir being made at the moment about young talent. I think we must accept the fact that the times they are a-changin' and focus on the idea that not every generation of stars will be exactly the same. When Katharine Hepburn wore pants, it was deemed too modern and almost ridiculed for a woman to do so. Similarly, when Marilyn Monroe utilised her sexuality, she was deemed inappropriate and called a series of nasty names. For ages, women have wanted to change the view on how people see them. In our times, there is a question about whether actresses are as talented as they once were. My argument is that they are. They are just as talented and they are attempting to change how women are seen on screen. In the 1970s and 80s, actresses like Sigourney Weaver brought us to the bad-ass culture of female actors in which we then got women such as Michelle Rodriguez and Angelina Jolie. In our day now, women want even more roles. It is a new refreshing change and here are the women who are doing just that...

(These actresses are in no particular order)

5 Young Actresses You Should Be Watching

Zendaya

Little did I know that Zendaya was so incredibly talented. Her acting is brilliant and her range is amazing. She goes for everything from action all the way to musical. She chooses her roles carefully and seeks to bring a new dimension into her acting, proving she is suitable and talented enough to portray even the most difficult and tense characters. Her growth over the last few years has seen her turn into a superstar of our times and I believe that in fifty years or so, we will count her as one of the classic actresses of our age.

Elle Fanning

The sister of Dakota Fanning is making her appearance on the big screen very well known - you simply cannot miss this rising talent. After portraying Aurora in "Maleficent", Elle Fanning has proven that she can take on the role of the fantastical princess and succeed. But if you are still not convinced then please proceed to her performance in "Live by Night" or in "The Beguiled" and you will see how great her range is. A woman who, in my opinion, can be equated to a Carole Lombard-type of actress, she is making way for a newer and fresher look at roles that include very difficult psychological situations.

Anya Taylor-Joy

I think we all know about this woman by now. In my opinion she is one of the greatest actresses of our day. Her range is incredible: spanning from the period drama based on the Jane Austen novel "Emma", to the smash hit series "The Queen's Gambit" and all the way to the horror film "The Witch". Anya Taylor-Joy is an actress with an undeniable amount of sheer talent in what she does. Her strength to build range in her roles has often had her filmography considered as one of the best in her league of younger actresses. Definitely one to watch - she is already on her way to becoming a superpower of cinema.

Chloe Grace Moretz

The little girl from "Kick Ass" has come a long way since and has even starred in a remake of the film "Carrie" and the film "Suspiria". Proving herself to be more than a one trick pony, Chloe Grace Moretz has practically built an empire around being able to perform some of the more psychologically difficult roles in cinema. Not resting for the 'female romantic' role, she constantly challenges herself in difficulty and learns from everything she does. As we see her grow, I can honestly say that I am very excited for what she does in the future.

Maisie Williams

I think everyone knows who Maisie Williams is, especially after her incredible career as the bad-ass Arya Stark in the long-running series, "Game of Thrones". The actress was also in "New Mutants" and has proved herself to be one of the new upcoming action hero actresses of her time. Following in the footsteps of women like Uma Thurman and Angelina Jolie, the fight scenes and performing with serious power should not be too difficult for Maisie Williams as before the age of twenty-five, she has done it already.
