5 Things That Went Wrong In:
Legion of Superheroes (2023)
Hope you like my article. I'd love to hear you out. Your opinion matters, a lot.
Also, turn on desktop site if you're using mobile, trust me.
The Legion of Superheroes (2023) was an action-packed adventure through time. Trying, and failing, horribly at putting us in The Last Daughter of Krypton's classy red boots.
the only thing that I liked about this film was that Supergirl, true to her rebellious nature, punched first and asked questions later.
Somehow, getting her cape handed to her at the same time...and let's not forget the Legion of Superheroes Lore.
And with that...
1. Mon-El Was Retconned
Mon El is of Daxxam, Krypton's twin planet. Lost long ago to time and DC plot. Coming from the same solar system as baby Kal El and Supergirl.
He possesses similar strength, with one downside.
He's faster than a speeding bullet, but can't survive it.
Mon El is almost as powerful as Superman and I'm sure fans were wondering how easily Supergirl. Untrained and unskilled was able to body my man. Was it a good ending? Or just really bad writing.
2. Really Bad Writing...
The quality of DC comic animations has dipped!!!
And as fans, it's time to accept the changes and know that we may never go back to the kind of genius the DC Animated Movie Universe (DCAMU) is responsible for.
Check out my take on one of their final installments.
Supergirl was confronted with a 'Super' difficult choice: 'Should I save my new friends and boyfriend or wish my planet back?'
In a heartbeat, we all know what she chose. And sad as it is, the 'Maid of Might' chose the 31st Century over dead Krypton as we all expected. As we knew she would.
In an instant. And after nearly two hours, you begin to wonder whether watching the latest installation to the Tommorowverse, which started with Superman: Man of Tomorrow (2020)
A cliche end, to what would have been a mid beginning.
3. I Couldn't Take the Main Villain seriously, and Neither Will You
So you're telling me Brainiac waited over 1000 years to make a move and Supergirl just happened to save the day, from the future.
Long story short, Braniac has acolytes. The Dark Circle.
Who have been present since the events after Superman: Man of Tomorrow (2020).
It doesn't work and the Braniac program that somehow scares us readers and watchers alike is consequently smarter than that.
4. I Just Couldn't With The After Credit Scene
While Kara is taking L's in the future. We've got a perfect team-up between the Dark Knight and The Man of Steel. Working together and protecting the present we currently reside in.
All is well until, it wasn't.
Adding a cliffhanger to the already bland film, adding a little bit of suspense.
Possibly to set up the next movie.
Batman and Clark are fried out of their boots and we're left to wonder are they dead or will the next movie Justice League: Warworld (2023) will actually try harder.
5. Failed Love Triangle, Angle
If there's anything we expect from a teen superhero movie, it's romance.
Well, I guess it was kind of obvious Batman wasn't going to be dating Supergirl. Because that would be weird... even though it happened once in that movie, where Batman's love interest was a younger superhero.
Anyway...
Barbara Gordon's standards fell so low.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Initially, it seemed that Supergirl was gonna get matched with Mon El, and to avoid taking that direction, it seemed like the whole plot revolved around making, surprise, Mon El an acolyte of the big, bad ,and gruesome Brainiac. The Conqueror of Worlds.
And redeeming Brainiac 5 the main Villain's descendant.
Which, in my opinion is one of the five reasons, Legion of Superheroes (2023) didn't do anything different or add anything new, especially for us fans.
About the Creator
S.M Pertet
A superhero movie and anime nerd who doesn't read as much as he'd like to. He's probably bingeing a show he loves right now that he's probably gonna write about later.
He's also an author, in the works.
Hope you like his writing.
