They're just great, let's show them some love

Hiro and Baymax from Big Hero 6

Many Disney characters are hard to imagine without their sidekick or friend to help them through their adventures. Who even knows how the stories would have played out without them, they sure wouldn't have been the same. Here are five great examples of amazing Disney friends, that we should all have in our lives. (Oh, and also... spoiler alert!)

1. Hank - Finding Dory (2016)

An unexpected hero, this octopus (or technically, septopus), immediately sees Dory as an opportunity to escape his fate of being released back into the ocean, a place he dreads more than anything. When Dory is taken to the Marine Life Institute, she needs a guide to help her find her parents. Hank fills this role, with the sole intention of getting her transfer tag so he can use it instead and be transferred to an aquarium. Eventually, in a desperate aid to help Dory reunite with her parents, he prioritised her instead of himself, and what he had wanted for so long. Although he initially doesn't really come off as an emotional guy with lots of empathy, but he turns out to be exactly the friend Dory needs.

2. Baymax - Big Hero 6 (2014)

Ever wanted a friend who will follow you and help you through anything? That friend is Baymax. When Hiro is in desperate need of support through dark times, Baymax is the unexpected friend that fills the hole in his heart, and that helps him through it. I don't think any Disney character has touched my heart the way Baymax has, that health care assistant has sure made me cry like no other Disney character has. He’s supportive, flexible and only does what’s best for Hiro. He managed to be exactly the friend he needed.

3. David - Lilo and Stitch (2002)

This is a guy who does NOT get the attention he deserves. When Nani is struggling to keep the illusion of a happy family and desperately tries to create a good home for Lilo, he's right there to support her. Whatever Nani needs from him, and more, he is always there to help. She can fully trust him to take care of Lilo, and knows he'll always have her back. People like that are hard to come by, and David is a person to never let go. He’s the kind of friend who will look out for you and be there for you no matter what, and those need to be embraced.

4. Pacha - The Emperor's New Groove (2000)

It's hard not to like this guy. After the selfish emperor Kuzco reveals his plans to destroy Pacha's village to build his summer house there, leaving him and his family without a home, you wouldn't expect Pacha to care much for him. Instead, he sees the good in Kuzco and supports him, even risking his own life for him when he messes up. No one else was there for him, only the guy whose home he was planning to tear down. Pacha can teach us a thing or two about forgiveness and giving people a second chance, and he's definitely a great example of what it means to be a true friend.

5. Roquefort - The Aristocats (1970)

This mouse is a family friend of Duchess and her kittens, and when they are all kidnapped and dumped by Edgar, he does everything within his power to find them and get them back home safely. This even involves going to O'Malley's alley cat friends to ask them for help, something that is incredibly dangerous for him. He is definitely an overlooked character who showed greath strength and bravery when his friends needed him the most, and deserves way more attention.

Those were five examples of the many golden friendships Disney has shown us. Which one is your favourite?
