Warning: SPOILERS for Thor: Ragnarok.

Depending on which country you live in, Thor: Ragnarok, the latest film in the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe, has either hit, or is about to hit, a movie theatre near you. While nearly every MCU film to date has included a special cameo or two, fans who have already seen the film have been surprised by just how many familiar faces show up in Ragnarok.

A final warning, this article will contain spoilers for the film.

1. Matt Damon as Loki

Matt Damon is, of course, a well known name in the entertainment world. He is an Oscar winner for Good Will Hunting, an action hero in the Bourne series of films, and the butt of many jokes thanks to films like Team America: World Police, and his ongoing faux rivalry with comedian Jimmy Kimmel. The fans Damon attracts are many and varied.

Damon makes his appearance quite early in Thor: Ragnarok, when the God of Thunder returns home to Asgard for the first time. Now knowing that Loki has secretly taken the place of their father, Odin, Thor is annoyed to find him staging a play based on the events of Thor: The Dark World. The play, heavily skewing the narrative so that the God of Mischief appears as the true hero, features Matt Damon in the lead role of Loki.

2. Sam Neill as Odin

An acting veteran hailing from New Zealand, Sam Neill is probably best known for his role as Dr. Alan Grant from the Jurassic Park films. He previously worked with Ragnarok Director Taika Waititi in the 2016 film Hunt For The Wilderpeople, earning critical acclaim for his role as Uncle Hec.

In Ragnarok, Neill takes the role of Odin in the play, heaping praise upon Matt Damon's Loki.

3. Luke Hemsworth as Thor

Everyone knows Chris Hemsworth, who, of course, plays Thor, and Liam Hemsworth, probably best known for the role of Gale Hawthorne in the Hunger Games films. However, it wasn't until recently that the eldest Hemsworth brother, Luke, made a name for himself outside of Australia, playing Ashley Stubbs in Westworld.

Now, the once forgotten Hemsworth gets another shot at the spotlight, happily lampooning his little brother's iconic role during Loki's play.

4. Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow

One of the world's highest earning actresses between 2014 to 2016, Scarlett Johansson is still hot property in Hollywood. Currently, her biggest role is that of Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in the MCU, a role she has played since 2010.

While Johansson did not film any new material for Ragnarok, a clip of Black Widow from Age Of Ultron, trying to convince Hulk to uncloak the Quinjet so they can find him, plays a pivotal role around the film's halfway point.

5. Stan Lee as Crazy Hairdresser

No list of Marvel movie cameos is complete without mention of Stan Lee, the creator of many classic Marvel characters. He has appeared in just about every film based on a Marvel property, and with news that he has pre-filmed cameos for quite a few upcoming movies, that is not going to change any time soon.

In Thor: Ragnarok, Lee appears to cut a terrified Thor's hair before his match against The Hulk. Where will Mr. Lee show up next? Only time will tell.

If Thor: Ragnarok is not showing in your area already, it will be very soon. go see it, and spot these cameos for yourself.
