(Mild spoilers for Power Rangers will follow)

I was blown away by the nostalgia fueled joy ride that was Dean Isrealite's Power Rangers, so much so that I am already pumped for the inevitable sequel that is to follow in the coming years. If the after credits scene is a tease of what's to follow then that means we will be seeing all-time fan favorite character Tommy Oliver joining the team or facing off against them in the future.

In a recent interview with THR, star Dacre Montgomery revealed that the entire cast is campaigning for a female Tommy Oliver in this rebooted Power Rangers universe. Most fans will be quick to judge this but I'm actually very interested in the idea.

The entire casting for this movie is based around diversity with white, black, hispanic, asian, and indian actors and actresses as the rangers so I can see Lionsgate looking to continue to diversify their cast and have a team of three boys and three girls.

I will always be a fan of Jason David Frank's Tommy Oliver so I'd embrace seeing a different take on the character to help me differentiate the two performances. It would also connect better in this universe with the previous Green Ranger - Rita - being a woman.

The casting for this movie with the exception of Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Banks has been filled with relatively unknown actors and actresses, so I'd expect the casting of Tommy Oliver to be the same. I unfortunately don't have connections to some of the unknown talent in Hollywood so while I cannot give you some crazy out of the box ideas, I have a list that I think proves that there are women in Hollywood worthy of taking over the mantle of the Green Ranger better than any men.

5. Britt Robertson

Britt Robertson for the Green Ranger

Tomorrowland was supposed to be her big break, but it unfortunately left her still hanging in Hollywood waiting for a break out role. She has an extensive resume at her young age with film credits ranging from every genre which shows off her range.

While her action roles are short, I think she's athletic enough to pull off the fight scenes and I saw her enough in Under the Dome to see her pull off darker emotions and the ability to play off of actors her own age. Tommy Oliver needs someone who can play both the bad and good guy if were going to see a storyline similar to that in the original show.

It may also be worth noting that Robertson already has been featured in a Power Rangers property with her role as Tammy in the episode "Uniquely Trip" in one of my favorite incarnation of the Ranger, Power Rangers Time Force.

4. Camren Bicondova

Camron Bicondova for the Green Ranger

Any Gotham fan knows why this girl is on the list. Playing the anti-hero Selina Kyle is one character that is very similar to the Green Ranger. She can manipulate the audiences feelings by making us hate to love her and her nefarious actions at times. Her ability to play off of David Mazouz's Bruce shows me her talent with teenage angst and love scenes.

Playing Selina Kyle has also given her plenty of experience in action roles and for anyone who didn't know she is a talented athlete being a dancer. Her all-girl dance group 8 Flavahz was runner-up on the seventh season of America's Best Dance Crew.

I really think she's someone who could be procuring some of the top roles in Hollywood as her career moves forward. If she found a way to this role I think that she could outshine the other five actors in the same way Jason David Frank did back in the original show.

3. Elizabeth Gillies

Elizabeth Gillies for the Green Ranger

Some might have a hard time seeing her in a role like this after her run on the Nickelodeon show Victorious, but after seeing her show off her darker range in the FX show Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll I know that she has more to offer showbiz then being a child star. I think her starring in a Nickelodeon show would be a great spot on her resume for a movie like this though. She has a great younger audience following and these Power Rangers films while more young adult still have a big market of children.

Playing more antagonist style characters is her specialty, but she always finds a way to make the audience fall in love with her. She reminds me a lot of Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter in how well she plays a tough character with a pure heart.

Her action roles are few, but I think she has the talent to play against the rest of the Rangers and learn the fighting choreography.

2. Hailee Steinfeld

Hailee Steinfeld for the Green Ranger

One of the biggest names coming up in all of entertainment right now. The actress and singer really caught my attention in The Edge of Seventeen. She has become the queen of the teenage angst film and is overly qualified for a role like this that would take on some of the emotions and characters she's already mastered.

With a seemingly endless range Steinfeld could portray the anti-hero role better then almost anyone in Hollywood. I'd love to see a mind controlled Tommy Oliver played by Steinfeld take on the other Rangers and see her be able to take the character from the dark to the light through the entire film.

Like Gillies, she doesn't have any action credits yet, but she is one of the best actresses in her age range so it shouldn't be an issue.

1. Cara Delevingne

Cara Delevingne for the Green Ranger

Finally, we have one of the best bad girls around. Delevingne is getting ready to break out as an action star in her upcoming role in Valerian: City of a Thousand Planets. This is a role that I think is tailor made for her.

Her role as Enchantress in Suicide Squad proved she can play a kind hearted character controlled by an evil spirit and change her personality on a dime. Playing Tommy Oliver is an ideal role for someone with her acting background and with such a large young adult following.

I couldn't think of many other actresses that could take on this role as well as Delevingne which is why she recieved my top spot. If this came to fruition it would be a major catch for the Power Rangers sequel to grab such a talented up-and-coming actress who fits the character so perfectly.
