10 Things You Might Not Know About Hallmark Actress Catherine Bell

1. Background

Catherine Lisa Bell was born in London, England on August 14, 1968. When she was only two years old, she moved to California with her mother. She is of Iranian and Scottish ancestry and is fluent in Persian and English. Today, Catherine is a model, actress, and producer.

2. Education

Catherine studied for two years at UCLA to become a surgeon or a biomedical engineer. Those dreams were short-lived because she dropped out of college to become a model.

One of her first modeling assignments was in a Mexican commercial for American Express.

3. Acting Career

Catherine studied acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse to combine acting with modeling. Her acting career began in 1991. One of her first roles was appearing as a nude body double for Isabella Rossellini in the 1992 film Death Becomes Her.

Catherine has acted in a variety of military movies:

  • Men of War in 1994
  • Crash Dive in 1996
  • JAG from 1997 to 2005
  • Black Thunder in 1998
  • Army Wives from 2007 to 2013

4. Hallmark Movies

The talented actress started acting on the Hallmark Channel in The Good Witch stand-alone movies with co-star Chris Potter from 2008 through 2014. Then she and James Denton co-starred in The Good Witch series for seven seasons from 2015 until it was canceled in July 2021.

5. Marriage and Children

Catherine and actor and production assistant Adam Beason met on the set of the film Death Becomes Her in 1992. They got married on May 8, 1994. From that union came two children: a girl named Gemma, born on April 16, 2003, and a boy named Ronan, born on August 21, 2010. Bell and Benson divorced in 2011.

6. Where Bell and Her Children Live

Following her divorce, Bell began living in 2012 with Brooke Danielle, a photographer, party planner, and fellow Scientologist. Brooke also has two children. All six of them live together in a remodeled single-story ranch house on a 1.2 acres lot in a gated community in the western suburbs of Los Angeles, California.

7. Bell's Religion

Catherine Bell was raised Roman Catholic and attended an all-girls Catholic school. Even so, today she is a high-ranking Scientologist with several friends who are also members of Scientology.

8. Catherine Bell's Tattoos

Catherine is proud to show off three tattoos that mean a lot to her. She has a tattoo of Gemma on her left wrist in ancient Persian and one of Ronan on her right inner forearm in an ancient Celtic script called Ogham. On her right ankle is her third tattoo. It is a heart with the word "love" written inside it.

Catherine Bell has a scar on her neck.

The mark on Catherine's neck (as seen in the photo above) is not a tattoo. Many of her fans have asked about it. She had thyroid cancer when she was in her 20s. She said she doesn't cover the scar that was left behind after surgery because she thinks it's kind of cool. She now serves as a spokesperson for the Thyroid Cancer Survivors Association (ThyCa).

9. Catherine's Hobbies

Catherine has several hobbies that keep her busy when she is not performing. Hobbies that keep her indoors are cross-stitching and making model cars. She is fond of outdoor activities, such as motorcycling, skiing, snowboarding, bungee jumping, and kickboxing.
