10 Things to Know About Hallmark Actor Andrew Walker
Viewers know Andrew Walker is a talented actor, but there are so many other interesting things about him.
1. Date of Birth
Andrew William Walker was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on June 9, 1979. His mother was a librarian, and his father was a school administrator. His sister, Jennifer May Walker, also known as Jenimay Walker, is an actress, singer, and go-go dancer. She and her brother have been performing since they were children
2. Education
When Andrew was in elementary school, he performed in a drama program during his lunch period. He was so good at just 12 years old that his teacher started sending him out on auditions. Andrew was addicted to acting by the time he was 14, and that was the beginning of him getting professional acting roles.
3. Football Scholarship
Andrew was awarded a full scholarship to play football at Boston College. He tore his anterior cruciate ligament during a routine drill at spring camp. Therefore, his football career ended even before it started.
4. Official Acting Career
Andrew's official acting career started in 1994, but his first recurring role was from 1996-1997 in Montreal in Student Bodies. In 1997, he had a role in Laserhawk. He appeared in other movies every year. Some years, he appeared in more than one movie at a time. In 2006, he earned an ACTRA Award for Best Actor when he co-starred in Steel Toes.
5. Variety of Roles
Andrew was already getting a variety of roles before he began his long career on the Hallmark Channel. His first leading role in a Lifetime film was in 2007 in Abducted: Fugitive For Love. He made guest appearances on several one-hour television shows, including CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, ER, Without a Trace, Reba, and The Big Bang Theory.
6. Hallmark Acting Career
Andrew's first Hallmark movie was A Bride for Christmas which premiered on December 1, 2012. With the exception of 2013, he has performed in a Hallmark movie every single year.
Andrew usually had leading roles in back-to-back movies. He acted in two Hallmark movies in 2015, 2020, and 2021. He performed in three Hallmark movies in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
Walker said the ideal time between movies is about two months so actors can have time to study their scripts and spend time with their families. He said he finished filming Wedding March 4 on a Friday in Vancouver. Then he started filming Love in Design in Winnipeg the following Monday. That's how dedicated Andrew is to his acting career.
7. Andrew's Leading Ladies
With Andrew having performed in 22 Hallmark movies to date, it is no surprise that he has acted alongside some popular Hallmark actresses. In fact, he has acted three times with his real-life friend Nikki DeLoach, more than with any other leading lady. Andrew says Nikki is a genuine and authentic person who is easy to connect with. He has also acted with other Hallmark actresses.
8. Andrew's Wife and Children
Andrew and Cassandra Troy started dating in 2004. They wanted to save money to start a business. So, they eloped in 2013. Their first son, West Byron Walker, was born in July 2015, and their second son, Wolf Reinhard Walker, was born in December 2019.
9. Little West Business
Andrew and Cassandra started their dream company with a friend in 2013, the same year they eloped. The company's original name was Clover for bottles of fresh, cold-pressed juices. In 2018, the company's name was changed to Little West because of the couple's love for the west coast where they live and after their oldest son, West.
10. Social Media Presence
Andrew and his wife Cassandra have a big presence on social media sites: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. They share updates about their family and their juice company.
