Ebb software has been working on this horror gem for the past two years creating a "cohesive lived-in world." If you love horror then this game is designed just for you. Here are the top 5 reasons why anyone who loves horror video games should be excited about the upcoming release of Scorn this October.

#1 Adaptive Creatures

You're not completely alone on this alien world, though you will feel it, but there are creatures wondering around you. As you keep progressing through the game, you will be making choices that will ultimately change the world around you. The creatures will adapt to these changes and you. You will have to try and figure out how to best deal with these creatures as you play the game as much as they learn how to deal with you. They can be curious, hostile, or even afraid of you. You won't know what to expect. This alone is enough to keep you on edge.

#2 No HUD

You are in this alone with no help and you will need to be more aware of what is around you to make sure you do not miss anything as you wander around this fleshy world solving contextual puzzles and grabbing anything you can. Missing something could mean dire consequences on your part. You can't rush through this horror game like many of us are guilty of doing before. If you want to survive then you better take a good look around. This game will not take it easy on you if you miss something important. You better take a second look.

#3 Immersion

The creators took the players' immersion into this game seriously. With no cutscenes, there is no escape from your grim reality. The story is told in-game. Besides not having cutscenes, you will have more realistic reactions to whatever you grab or operate. That is what the creators claim, at least. You need to use your hands when grabbing objects and to operate machines you will need to take your time with your controls. Also, you're not a floating head. You can actually see your fleshy body when you look down! Detail is not everything when it comes to horror but it is safe to say that the details they put in this game will keep you locked in.

#4 Fight or Flight

You need to learn how you are going to survive and with your limited inventory; it is up to you to pick to either fight or take cover from your attackers. Remember, each action you make will affect everything around you. You need to think of this while choosing what to do. The game is not going to help you make this choice like many games have done before. I imagine with the limited ammo you have that you may try to hide a good bit throughout your exploration. I wouldn't want to waste my ammo but the creators claim on their page that "different play styles will be needed to advance" in the game.

#5 Environment

Lastly, with an environment inspired by (or copied from) H.R. Giger and Zdzislaw Beksinski, this game delivers a horrifying world for you to explore. If you were a fan of the unsettling environments found in Silent Hill or Resident Evil then you should love Scorn's unique environment too. This world is nothing like anyone has seen before and I hope you're ready to take in the grotesque sights. Each location holds something different for you and it's up to you to figure it out as you explore this world and learn its secrets.

More?

This game is set to be released in two parts. The creators want to give their players a polished game. They have even been holding back information to keep from spoiling the game for any players who are interested.

Want to know more? Youtubers have released videos talking about Scorn and Ebb Software has a webpage dedicated to the game if you would. Maybe you will find something I did not already tell you.
