What to Expect from Season 2 of Batman: The Telltale Series

(Spoilers for Batman: The Telltale Series follow, you've been warned)

In recent years, Telltale's line of videogames have gained some popularity amongst a wide variety of fans. Telltale's initial projects like The Walking Dead were massive successes despite being quite unknown, at first. The success of Telltale's The Walking Dead Series has lead Telltale to develop separate series for Minecraft, and most recently, #Batman.

Batman: The Telltale Series is quite unique in it's form of gameplay and draws a far line from past Batman videogames. Most Batman videogames are RPG action games but the #Telltale Batman series plays out a bit differently.

The game basically plays out like a movie you can decide the ending to. Immersing one's self into a world so complex that it pulls you in more and more with every episode. Fans of Batman should be prepared to spend multiple hours playing through each episode because it's extremely addictive.

The final episode of Season 1 concludes in such a way that you want to play more but nothing beyond Season 1, Episode 5 has been developed yet.

There's been no word of Telltale developing a second season for their Batman series but from the looks of Season 1's conclusion and the success of the game overall, it's fair to assume that Telltale is going to invest in another season of Batman: The Telltale Series.

In regards to what could be in store for Season 2, here are four plot lines established in Season 1 that could resurface in Season 2 of #BatmanTheTelltaleSeries.

The Joke Rises

#TheJoker, otherwise known as John Doe in Arkham Asylum, was introduced as one of the more level-headed patients of Arkham Asylum in Season 1. Yes, you heard correct, level headed. In comparison to most iterations of the character, the Joker being level-headed may seem far fetched but Telltale's version of the Joker appears to be level headed "enough" to follow through with a long thought out plan.

However, the Joker's good nature is all an act for some diabolical plan he's conceiving and he clearly gave hints of it throughout the game. That said, the first impressions of the Joker were meant to be misleading, to most audiences.

To the untrained eye, it would seem like Telltale's version of the Joker is much different from almost every other iteration of the character but he's just like his comicbook counterpart, and possibly much worse.

Telltale's version of the Joker is patient with his moves, he plans ahead, and thinks of a big game plan before making any moves. The comicbook version is similar in how he operates but the Joker from the comics can never hold his facade for too long, he always seems to let loose on someone. Telltale's Joker on the other hand, sees a much bigger picture and plans 10 steps ahead of everyone else. He didn't once give any indication of a massively evil plan but he obviously has something in mind for when he escapes Arkham Asylum.

Season 1 of Batman: The Telltale Series also displayed Joker outwitting Bruce Wayne a number of times while they were incarcerated in Arkham Asylum together, and we can reasonably assume Season 2 will be followed up by more interactions between Bruce Wayne and the Joker, in which the Joker will continue to psychologically manipulate Bruce for his own purposes. And since Bruce promised the Joker a favor, the Joker will likely use some form of coercion to force Bruce Wayne into fulfilling the terms of their agreement. As to what that favor will be is yet to be determined but whatever the favor is, it'll probably be something Bruce Wayne/Batman won't be comfortable doing.

The most probable request that Joker will make of Bruce is for Bruce to kill someone but the Joker is smart enough to know that Bruce won't do it so the favor will likely be of a different nature. Another potential request could be for Bruce Wayne to tell everyone that he's Batman.

To be fair, it is a simple request but it isn't something Bruce Wayne would follow through with, even if he owes the Joker a favor. The favor will definitely come into question at some point and seeing as how it's owed to the Joker, there'll definitely be some resolution to that loose end at sometime during Season 2 of Batman: The Telltale Series. And we also need to account for the Joker releasing himself from Arkham Asylum so there's a very good chance that he'll have a major arc to play in Season 2.

Harvey Dent/Two-Face Gets Out of Arkham Asylum

Poor Harvey Dent can never cut a break. His character always starts off with noble intentions but the moment he gets gruesomely disfigured, all hell breaks loose and Harvey Dent becomes Two-Face - and it seems to happen a lot. Telltale's version of Harvey Dent is no different.

In Batman: The Telltale Series, Harvey Dent winds up having his face burnt by Oswald Cobblepot a.k.a. the Penguin, turning him into Two-Face. Harvey Dent doesn't completely turn into Two-Face upon being disfigured but it's the act of the disfigurement which pushes Harvey Dent on to the path to becoming Two-Face. However, Dent's arc as Two-face is only a small segment of Season 1. By the conclusion of the first season, Harvey Dent is incarcerated in Arkham Asylum and is attempting to receive help for his multiple-personality disorder.

After Harvey and Bruce settle their disagreements, Bruce is able to convince Harvey that his Two-Face persona can be controlled and that he would help Harvey do it. Reaching Harvey's logical side allows for Bruce to convince Harvey of his intent to help Harvey. The result of their confrontation lands Harvey in Arkham Asylum, but for his own good.

Harvey Dent may be currently confined to Arkham Asylum but his story is far from over. His alter ego, Two-Face is unpredictable and can come out at any time so when that happens, Two-Face will be looking to exact his revenge on Bruce Wayne - all of which could take place in Season 2 of Batman: The Telltale Series. Or maybe Harvey Dent will be given a well-deserved redemption story after spending many years stuck in the role of a villain.

Resurrection of Lady Arkham

The conclusion of Season 1 saw Lady Arkham defeated and apparently dead but we all know that vague death scenes always lead to villains returning. That formula seems to be abundant in DC' comics storylines and will probably be utilized to bring back Lady Arkham in Season 2.

There's also the aspect of no body being seen when that building apparently collapsed on Lady Arkham in Episode 5, so that's another piece of evidence to back up the claim of Lady Arkham being mysteriously resurrected in Season 2.

Another intriguing facet of Lady Arkham's identity that will likely be explored in Season 2 of Batman: The Telltale Series is her past and where she was trained.

When Vicki Vale explains her lineage to Bruce Wayne/Batman, she leaves out a crucial piece of information like where she received her training from, as well as what else she may be capable of. For all we know, she could have phased out of the building before it collapsed on her despite not exhibiting that ability beforehand.

More importantly, Lady Arkham's extensive martial arts skills and high tech weaponry means she gained those resources and knowledge from a group like the League Of Assassins.

As of now, we can neither confirm nor deny Lady Arkham's affiliation with the League Of Assassins but were she to have some affiliation with the group, it would explain how Vicki Vale came to possess the skills of Lady Arkham.

To be clear, Lady Arkham is no ordinary fighter, she possesses skills learned over time so wherever she learned it from is definitely something that needs to be explored if Lady Arkham resurfaces in Season 2 of Batman: The Telltale Series. In that scenario, the origin of her abilities would likely be explained as originating from a group like the League Of Assassins but Vicki Vale may not be directly affiliated with the League herself.

Selina Kyle Pays Bruce Wayne Another Visit

The conclusion of Season 1 could have played out a variety of ways when it comes to the resolution found between Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne.

Season 1 tells the story of how they fall into an auspicious encounter that is followed by a line of deceit from both sides. Eventually, the two sides converge and both make a decision that determines the fate of what has grown between them.

During the gameplay scene where Selina supposedly reveals to Bruce that she played him for a fool and used him for her own devious purposes, the player's decision determines how the confrontation will end but the truth leaves the scene open for further exploration.

To be clear about what happens in those final scenes, the concluding conversation between Selina and Bruce either ends with the two parting ways amicably or leaving on an empty note. In either case, the truth is what really matters.

Regardless of how you play through the scene, Selina's dialogue gives subtle but clear hints towards her true intentions which proves that she truly did care for Bruce. She didn't simply use Bruce as a mark for her job, Selina covered her growing feelings for Bruce with lies to make herself appear cold-hearted. Selina never clearly admits to Bruce that he's right about the emotional connection growing between them but (depending on how the player goes through the scene) a few small instances prove that her emotional connection with Bruce was real and not just for a job. That proof of their growing connection is why Selina Kyle will be back for Season 2 of Batman: The Telltale Series.

Selina Kyle may have rode off into the sunset without Bruce Wayne but she's bound to make an appearance in Season 2. As more proof to add to that claim, Selina Kyle's comicbook counterpart has been known for her inability to stay away from Bruce Wayne/Batman so her attraction to him will probably be what draws her back to Gotham City, and as a result, back to Bruce himself
