Clementine Is Back in Season 3 of Telltale's the Walking Dead and She's Getting Older
In an interview, creator of The Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman, shed some light on the third season of the video game series.
Recap of Telltale's Season 1 and Season 2
The first two seasons of Telltale's The Walking Dead began new story arcs in the world of The Walking Dead, focusing on the new characters of Lee and Clementine. Both characters were lost by design in the world of The Walking Dead. Finding each other and relying on each other, they made a dynamic duo until their unavoidable separation. By the end of Season 1, the main star, Lee, was dead and his young companion, Clementine, was left to fend for herself. In Season 2 of Telltale's The Walking Dead, Clementine has managed to survive in the post-apocalyptic world and meets some trustworthy strangers, and some old friends as well. Though by end of Season 2, Clementine is left in a open-ended direction.
What We Know of Telltale's the Walking Dead, Season 3
Now that Robert Kirkman has opened up about Season 3 of Telltale's The Walking Dead, we know that Clementine will be back, and there'll be a time-jump from the last time we saw her in Season 2 of Telltale's The Walking Dead. Kirkman also implied that Clementine will be of a different age, as the new season of Telltale's The Walking Dead will relate closer to the current timeline of the comic book counterpart. That would imply that when we were introduced to Clementine, it was the beginning of the apocalypse, and the next time we see her it's going to be after the "All Out War" comic book event. Meaning that Season 3 of Telltale's The Walking Dead will have taken place almost five years after the apocalypse.
So, Clementine will be well into her teenage years in Season 3. It's plausible that Clementine will have become more adept at surviving in the post-apocalyptic world, but will she trust anyone after the ordeal she suffered, among so-called friends? Another question that is pertinent is whether or not Clementine has reached any of the survivor colonies like Alexandria, the Kingdom, the Hilltop Colony, or the Sanctuary? And if she has, did she attempt to go in, or did she keep walking? There's lots up for debate when it comes to what Clementine will be doing in Season 3
An Older Clementine is Back
For now, we can go over the reviews of Season 1 and Season 2 of Telltale's The Walking Dead to see how the two seasons have been spun so far. In these reviews, also provided by IGN, Season 1 of Telltale's The Walking Dead released, facilitating a huge gain in interest that set forth an order for another installment in the series. And when Season 2 premiered, fans were captivated by the titular star of the series, Clementine, as she navigated her way through the post-apocalyptic landscape.
By the end of Season 2, Clementine was facing a blizzard while carrying an infant. What can Clementine do to survive in such a hostile environment? Not only are the elements against her, she still has to be on her guard as flesh-eating zombies could be inches away from her at any point. Though with new information indicates that a time-jump will be in order, since the last time we saw Clementine in Season 2 she endured the blizzard and managed to survive for longer than most in the world of The Walking Dead would. Meaning that Clementine has honed her survival skills making her a much more formidable individual in Season 3.
If Clementine has succeeded in surviving, would she have turned away at the sight of new communities as she grows accustomed to solidarity? It would be interesting to see a scene from a comic book event of The Walking Dead in Season 3 of Telltale's adaptation. With the fact that Clementine would prefer to stay on her own, all the while surviving in the harsh landscape of the post-apocalypse, it's plausible that she may have needed to introduce herself to one of the communities formed, in the circumstance that she needed medical attention for a wound she can't treat herself.
Would that scenario give Clementine cause to stay in a community like the Kingdom, or even Alexandria? Personally, I think it would be amazing to see Clementine visit Alexandria or the Kingdom after the events of the comic book event "All Out War." Seeing Rick and the others, sometime after their confrontation with Negan — possibly even allowing Clementine a quick meeting with Negan as he sits in his cell within the community of Alexandria.
Nothing else in terms of confirmed information on Season 3 of Telltale's The Walking Dead video game is available right now. But both previous seasons of the hit series are definitely worth playing over a time or two.
