If we are honest with ourselves, kids are the primary market in the gaming world. They are the ones who make sure Mario and other major characters stay popular, and there are tons of game groups that work to keep games kid-friendly because of the fact that they know parents will be more likely to buy games if they're clean.

Many of the games out there are fun for kids and adults alike. Today, we're going to check out what critics have to say about the top Nintendo 3DS games for kids.

Mario and his buddies are back in action again, with yet another stellar racing game! Mario Kart 7 is a classic game with a lot of new twists and turns, all of which are totally family-friendly. There's racing, swimming in deep sea adventures, and plenty of cool flight scenes, too.

Your kids will love it, and if you love nostalgia gaming, you might want to nab their 3DS for a while, too. If you ask us, it's easy to see why Parenting Magazinerated Mario Kart 7 as one of the top Nintendo 3DS games for kids.

For many of us, our younger years were filled with watching Pokemon on television, then playing Pokemon. After that, we'd also collect all the trading cards and pretend that we'd like anime because that was what seemed to be cool at the time. (Or, at least, that was me when I was 15.)

Pokemon Rumble Blast brings Pokemon battling to the next level and features around 600 different toy Pokemon to collect. If you love the idea of getting your kids introduced to the franchise early on, this will be one of the top Nintendo 3DS games for kids in your home.

Nostalgic parents and kids alike will love playing this old school classic on a brand new machine. The Super Mario Bros 3 for 3DS release was much-anticipated and offers all the classic video game fun with a slightly easier device.

Sure, the graphics may not be updated, but the fact that it's actually playable for your kid will allow you to have a major bonding session with them. If your child was curious about your childhood, it's a must-have in your arsenal.

We're going to say that this is one of the top Nintendo 3DS games for kids who want a taste of the 90s but were born just a little too late.

One of the biggest concerns parents have is that video gaming may hurt a child's creativity. Well, video game companies have listened, and with that worry in mind, they made Super Scribblenauts — one of the top Nintendo 3DS games for kids of all ages.

Much like Minecraft, Super Scribblenauts is all about making your own world and actually getting to explore it. Plenty of tiles and props exist, so the possibilities are truly endless.

Older gamers will recognize the name of Professor Layton — the brilliant detective who always seems to find himself in unusual, paranormal-ish mysteries. Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy is a mystery game that encourages kids to think and solve puzzles to get the story going.

This particularly challenging game is a good one to get if you want your kids to learn better critical thinking skills. Multiple groups call it one of the top Nintendo 3DS games for kids over the age of 14, and if you've ever played a Layton game, you know that title is well-deserved.

Though it was cited as one of the top Nintendo 3DS games for kids, we're going to go a little further. If you've always wanted to learn how to draw anime or Pokemon characters, you will love this game. Pokemon Art Academy literally teaches you how to draw your favorite Pokemon, and coaches you every step of the way.

For people who want to bolster their art prowess, this game will be an amazing buy.

Purr Pals: Purrfection is all about bringing cute digital cats to life, and letting your child raise them, love them, and feed them all the same. It's all of the pet fun, with none of the pet mess — and for families that can't afford to have a cat of their own, this quickly will be one of the top Nintendo 3DS games for kids that desperately want a pet.

Sonic Generations is one of the more recent games to join the Sonic franchise, and it's just as good as you'd expect it to be. And, technically, this isn't just a game — it's a 20th anniversary celebration of Sega's most famous character.

In this, kids get to explore as everyone's favorite blue hedgehog...only to find out that time holes are causing his world to come into total chaos. You get to meet the younger you, old characters and save the day.

For fans of Sonic, this is one of the top Nintendo 3DS games for kids to play....and then have their parents borrow from them once they're done.
