Top 5 Ways to Survive Your Typical FPS Game

So every FPS (first-person shooter) gamer has experienced death in their normal everyday video game, but how do you stop that death ratio from going up? It's easy! The secret to this is to focus. Okay, maybe that's not much of a secret, but it helps. Focus and timing is key to surviving, whether you are being bombarded by hordes of zombies or just your average hardcore opponents.

In this article, I will list different methods and ways of surviving in the toughest times. To start off, we will begin with a classical game of Call Of Duty. Now, the type of Call Of Duty game doesn't really matter at the moment, since we are talking about how to survive against your enemy. Sure, gun classes matter, but not in this article it doesn't. So you're on your map and say you only have a pistol with you.

That's fine as long as you follow these instructions.

#1. Focus.

To me, this is a major key of importance. If you keep getting distracted, then you are diminishing your chances of survival. Stay calm and kill the enemy. If you need to mute chat because you keep losing focus because of the little kid that keeps calling you a hacker, then you mute chat. There isn't much more I can say on this because it's simple as can be.

#2. Use allies/teammates.

Don't be one of those so-called "Campers" and stay still all the time. By doing that, people will sneak right behind you and take you out. You need to be constantly moving and checking your back in case of an enemy. Now, there is an exception to this. If you're staying still, then make sure that you are concealed. The best way to stay hidden from an enemy's eye is having camouflage on. If it was me, I would be in a high tower with a sniper rifle at the ready and a pistol with a silencer attached.

#3. Stock up.

Being stocked up is essential as well, especially if you are playing some type of zombie mode. I like to have as much ammo on me as possible in case I don't get a chance to go and retrieve more. It's easier in a TDM (Team Death Match) or FFA (Free For All) game mode since there are other people running around you with a weapon that you can potentially steal.

#4. Use resources.

(Call Of Duty zombies)

Depending on which game you are playing, you might have access to a minimap. Use it as much as possible since it may hint to you where your opponent is. I use the minimap a lot to help me spot out enemies and to see where all the action is. Noise and sounds will also help you in a battle. When someone shoots their gun, you can consider where it came from. Also, some games you can hear people's footsteps when they are close by, so use that to the best of your ability.

#5 Use allies/teammates.

Teammates can help cover your back, so make sure you communicate with them. Not only can they cover your back, but they can help inform you where an enemy may be hiding. In an FFA game, you won't be paired up with others but if you "Team up" with someone then your survival rate will go up. Unless of course, they backstab you.

Hopefully, these tactics will help you the next time you play a first-person shooting game. Consider this advice for all video games you play. You will need focus on any game you're playing as well as resources. I plan on writing an article in the future on the best types of gun classes that you should use while playing Call Of Duty, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for it when it's published!
