The Final Fantasy series has been around for decades now and has always had the respect of gamers everywhere. The series has always been a powerhouse in the world of RPGs and most likely always will be. Each game has its own story in its own world, and they all have a different kind of story.

I personally have been playing Final Fantasy games my whole life and love to engage with the stories and lore of the games for fun. The first video game I ever played was Final Fantasy IX, and it was nothing short of amazing.

This list is the of the top Final Fantasy games ranked in my opinion. This being said, this is not a list of my favorite Final Fantasy games, but instead a list of the best Final Fantasy games regardless of where they stand on my personal favorites list.

5. 'Final Fantasy X'

Final Fantasy X brought a lot of new and interesting features to the Final Fantasy series. The biggest of these features was fully voiced dialogue. In past games, all of the dialogue has been done through speech bubbles and subtitles, but never has it been through voice acting itself. Also, this game was the first to have real time visuals instead of pre-rendered backgrounds. This made the world more immersive and beautiful than in other Final Fantasy games before it.

One of the biggest differences between this game and past games in the series is the fact that the battle system was no longer in real time. In this game, there was the same turn based fighting system, but instead of turns being recharged over time, now they were just done in a certain order.

Relative to other Final Fantasy games, this game is very linear. That being said, there are plenty of offshoots and secrets to be found to satisfy your exploring needs. These features combined with a wonderful story makes this game easy to stand out from the rest.

4. 'Final Fantasy VII'

By far the most popular and known of the Final Fantasy franchise, Final Fantasy VII is a wonderful game, but in my opinion is still not quite as good as its made out to be. This game has a heart-wrenching story with many twists and turns to make you cry, but is also overall an amazing experience.

This being said, it does not exactly live up to the hype that the RPG world gives it. When someone says Final Fantasy to a non-Final Fantasy player, usually the first thing they think of is Cloud with a sword bigger than his whole body.

The features in this game are very similar to the games before it, but the cutscenes in this game are much more thought out and well put together than past games. The cutscenes were absolutely beautiful for its time and was a big change for the Final Fantasy series.

The story and characters of this game make it worth replaying today despite how it holds up to today's games. It is still an amazing game even though it cannot hold up to the hype the RPG world gave it.

3. 'Final Fantasy XV'

The most recent of all of the Final Fantasy games, XV takes past Final Fantasy ideas and makes it into a modern game. Per usual for Final Fantasy, the game has an amazing story and characters, and combined with a breathtaking world and graphics is overall an amazing game.

Final Fantasy XV's biggest difference is it got rid of turned based fighting completely. This was a big change for past Final Fantasy players, but a warm welcome for newcomers. The combination of the new fighting style and the same elements from past games made this game interesting for both new and old players.

This game also has the most modern elements in game then ever before. In this game, the protagonists drive a car around, the enemies use machine guns and modern weapons, and most of the characters have cell phones of some sort. These also were big changes for the series that ended up working really well in the game.

2. 'Final Fantasy IX'

Final Fantasy IX is once more an amazing game with a great story and characters. The story in this game takes a much funnier approach than other Final Fantasy games, making it very welcoming. The story is also heartwarming and an overall happier story than some of the past games.

This being said, this game also has its sad parts and heart-wrenching scenes. The game switches between these two moods often but is overall one of the more joyous games in the series. The main protagonist is a thief that is part of a theatre troupe, which overall makes the story like a little piece of theatre all on its own.

Overall, this is one of the more fun and happy games of the series despite its sad parts. The amazing story and gameplay really pulls the game together as a truly memorable game in the series.

1. 'Final Fantasy VI'

Among the community of Final Fantasy players, this game is widely regarded as the best, and it truly lives up to its reputation. This game has a truly amazing world combined with a group of amazing characters and an unforgettable story.

This game somehow manages to have 12 main playable characters and makes them all both interesting and equally involved in the game. This game also has a lot of secrets to explore that reward the players very well.

Also, just when you think the game is ending, it will give you hours and hours of more content before the real ending. This makes this game playable endless amounts of times and overall a truly amazing game.
