The College of Revolution — Dungeons and Dragons Homebrew
Bard College
The College of Revolution - Bard College
Atop the battlements of a tyrannical ruler, a fire in their eyes and a righteous rage in their voice, their valiant speech ending in the shouts of rebellion. A dark room, overcrowded with worried farmers and angry factory workers, all eyes affixed on the bard in the centre as they detail battle plans and share out weaponry for the coming insurgency.
As a member of the College of Revolution, you understand that the answer to the political struggles of the common peasant will not always come from the system. Sometimes, those very peasants must take matters into their own hands, to create the change they want to see. Sometimes an autocrat or despot, sometimes a thief and liar, sometimes even an ineffective leader — their duty is to the people, and if the people demand better, you are there to ensure that they receive better.
Level 3: Fan The Flames
When you join this college at the 3rd level, you become skilled at motivating others to stop obeying their masters. You have an advantage on Charisma (Persuasion) checks made to persuade a creature to disobey an order they have been given.
Level 3: Embolden The Masses
Also at 3rd level, you are excellent at inspiring crowds to bite back. When you hit a creature with an attack, you can use your reaction to embolden a number of creatures within 10 feet of you equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1). Each chosen creature gains temporary hit points equal to your bard level and can move up to 10 feet towards the target of that attack. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier, and regains expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.
When you reach the 14th level, you can inspire creatures within 30 feet of you, and one of the chosen creatures can use their reaction to make a single weapon attack against the target.
Level 6: Emancipation
Starting at the 6th level, your words are potent enough to inspire those that hear you to break any chains that may bind them. Creatures affected by your Countercharm are immune to being charmed or frightened, have an advantage on saving throws against being paralysed or restrained, and have an advantage on Charisma (Persuasion) and Wisdom (Insight) checks.
Level 14: Uprising
When you reach the 14th level, your words inspire even the most pessimistic into rising up. As an action, you can deliver an encouraging speech, expending and rolling a Bardic Inspiration die. Each friendly creature within 60 feet of you that can hear you can immediately make one weapon attack as a reaction, gaining a bonus to the attack roll equal to the number rolled on your Bardic Inspiration die. In addition, each of those creatures gains the following benefits for 1 minute:
- Their movement speed increases by 10 feet.
- At the start of each of their turns, they gain temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).
- They gain a bonus to their Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws equal to half your proficiency bonus (rounded up).
- While a creature has one of your Bardic Inspiration dice, they are also considered to be under the effects of Freedom of Movement spell for the duration.
Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.
