Squid Game, the most popular TV show on Netflix now, is a brilliant metaphor for several things, but especially capitalism. 456 broken and bankrupt rats are set on a deadly race for a vast prize in an absurd and cartoonish version of hell. And who would willingly leave hell if there was even a chance, however outlandish, that staying might suddenly make them a billionaire? Very little of this series otherwise makes sense, and it makes an absolute meal of it.

What will people have to do for money when they're so far in debt in the future? What do people do even now? Don't we already watch people essentially starve and struggle to live on shows like 'Survivor,' 'Naked and Afraid' and more? How far can it go?

Well, let's hold that thought for a bit and dwell on another question: in the mysterious world of RPGs, are there any of them that has a squid-like Boss? For me, the first thing that comes to my mind is absolutely Kraken, the gargantuan squid which appears in many RPGs in different forms and colors.

But what is the Kraken exactly? It is a legendary sea monster of gigantic size and cephalopod-like appearance in Scandinavian folklore. According to the Norse sagas, the kraken dwells off the coasts of Norway and Greenland and terrorizes nearby sailors. The kraken has been the focus of many sailors passing the North Atlantic and especially sailors from the Nordic countries. Throughout the centuries, the kraken has been a staple of sailors' superstitions and mythos.

Now, why don't we unleash all the Krakens we have collected for you?

1. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

The Kayran is a boss monster from the first chapter of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and is found near the small town of Flotsam. It is the first major boss fight in the game. Killing the monster is the object of the quest The Kayran.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is a sequel to The Witcher, developed by CD Projekt RED and released on May 17, 2011. Like the original game, it is set after the events of Andrzej Sapkowski's The Witcher series of novels on which the games are based.

2. Familiar Warfare

The Norse Kraken is resting under the endless sea. It has been sleeping for several centuries and will continue to sleep on top of an enormous sea insect. When the fire of the sea insect warms the sea up, humans and angels will watch it rise from the sea roaring furiously and destroying everything on the surface of the ocean.

Familiar Warfare is a free-to-play epic idle RPG on Android and IOS. You will become a courageous Covenanter with great potential and secret powers. With a squad of awesome Familiars at your command, you are destined to save the Land of Gardel from Berserkers and evil enemies!

3. God of War II

Kraken is a giant meat-eating sea monster that is an enemy in God of War II. She is the last boss before reaching the Sisters of Fate. While depicted mainly as a giant octopus-like creature, in God of War II, the Kraken is a ferocious beast with several tentacles and a vicious appetite. Notably, she only displays four tentacles, two used to support her body by curling around the pillars in the area and two used for battle, which are equipped with a heavy spiked black armor-like exoskeleton. Her head has two large eyes, a massive, fanged mouth, and small spines or gills along its sides. She also has oozing sores on her forehead and two main tentacles, holding on to two giant pillars.

God of War II is a hack-and-slash action-adventure video game and the sequel to the God of War video game for the PlayStation 2. It was released in North America on March 13, 2007, in Europe on April 27, and on May 3, 2007, in Australia.

4. Might & Magic: Heroes VII

The Kraken is a neutral creature in Might & Magic: Heroes VII add-on, Trial by Fire. During the Wars of Creation, the blood of the Dragons was spilled all over Ashan, including the blood of Urgash, the Dragon of Chaos. It mutated the wildlife, giving birth to twisted and maddened abominations. Born in the darkest depths of Ashan's oceans, the terrifying Kraken is one such nightmare.

Might & Magic: Heroes VII is the seventh installment in the series, developed by Limbic Entertainment. The storyline serves as a sequel to Heroes of Might and Magic VI, taking place three centuries later in the same world of Ashan. On October 5th, 2016, it was announced that the development of Heroes VII and its addon, Trial by Fire has been completed, and as such no further updates would be released. The final version is 2.21, for both the addon and the game.

5. Final Fantasy XIV

Kraken is depicted as a gigantic squid in Final Fantasy XIV, and is fought twice. First as the last boss of the Hullbreaker Isle, where it flees upon defeat, and again as the last boss of Sastasha (Hard), where it is slain.

Final Fantasy XIV Online, also known collectively with its initial relaunched title Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, is the relaunched version of the fourteenth installment of the Final Fantasy series and the second, after Final Fantasy XI, to be an MMORPG.

6. World of Warcraft

One version of the kraken in WoW are huge squid-like creatures with four eyes and eight appendages, often referred to as leviathans around Pandaria. They are servants of Neptulon the Tidehunter and normally dwell in the Abyssal Maw and not on Azeroth; however, fossils and tales suggest that the mighty creatures have been visiting Azeroth for millennia. Ozumat is the patriarch of all kraken.[8] Not much is known about them, although Ancient Leviathans can be found at various points in the seas of Townlong Steppes. It is possible they are one of the squid-like krakken mentioned in troll legends.

World of Warcraft (WoW) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) released in 2004 by Blizzard Entertainment. Set in the Warcraft fantasy universe, World of Warcraft takes place within the world of Azeroth, approximately four years after the events of the previous game in the series, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.

7. Alchemy Stars

The Kraken is said to be a member of the mysterious organization, Eclipse. Not only does it have powerful attacks, but it also can command the Eclipsites. It's good at using its large body to attack targets in front of it. It burrows into the ground and damages nearby targets upon emerging.

Alchemy Stars is a turn-based RPG gacha mobile game developed by Tourdog Studio and published by Tencent Games. It was released globally on 17 June 2021 for Android and iOS devices.
