Song of Nadira : Episode 2

Nadira awakens to the cool morning air. Adda, who seems to have been awake for some time, looks as though she is preparing to hunt, in an effort to resupply for the journey ahead.

“We should get started early, we need to hunt and gather supplies for this journey ahead. Our next destination is some distance away and is deep into the forest. Things could get dangerous.” Adda says as she sharpens her spear.

“Where do we head next?” Ask Nadira as she stretches out of her bed roll.

“Just a little more to the east is a remote ruin of the first humans to walk this land, The broken. They still live among this forest and still worship at the ruin but from there we must then head north.” Adda says.

“I've not ever seen one of The Broken, I hear they are savage people?” Ask Nadira. Adda quickly replies. “Yes! Very, and if we want to survive we need to keep moving so let's hunt!”

(Move: resupply - Strong Hit +2 Supply)

The women hunt and forage in preparation for the journey through the forest ahead. The hunt was fruitful and they have acquired some of the rations they had lost on their journey to the glade.

Nadria looks at Adda who is finishing packing the last of the rations. “This should be sufficient. Let's get to the ruin.” Adda agrees and heads east into the forest.

(Move: Undertake a journey - Strong Hit mark progress)

The women hike through the forest, with no sign of The Broken. As they approach a dense area of the forest Adda spots the ruin ahead.

“Look! The Ruin!” whispers Adda as she gets lower to the ground. “It would be wise to approach the ruin with caution. We should honestly move around it and start to head north. I fear the Broken are camped out there. I can see remnants of a recent campfire.”

Nadira looks at her faithful Hound, Jorge. “Perhaps we can see what Jorge can find? If The Broken are camped out and we head north away from the ruin I would hate to have such people to our backs.” Nadira snaps and points at the ruin. Jorge approaches low to the ground and slowly.

(Move - gather information - asset Hound - Weak hit)

Jorge returns quickly to the travelers and stands in a defensive point towards the Ruin.

“What does that mean?” Ask Adda quietly.

Nadira replies as she grabs her war hammer. “Something is coming this way.”

The women take arms and prepare an ambush hiding in the bushes.

(Move: secure and advantage - Strong Hit)

The women get hidden among the bushes silently, suddenly two figures emerge, it is exactly as they had thought, two feral looking men, they look as though they have lived in the wild their entire lives. Practically unclothed and carrying large heavy looking wood clubs. It seems as though the men do not sense the travelers. But a choice must be made. Nadira signals to Adda that they shall ambush the two men when they pass by, and attack from behind. The travelers wait as the two broken men trudge past.

(Move: face danger - Weak Hit)

Just as the two broken men pass the travelers jump out from the bushes and attack them over the heads this injured both of the men who took off running but in the jump Nadir had lost her footing and twisted her ankle.

(Move: endure harm - weak hit, endure 1 harm and press on)

“Are you ok?” Adda rushes over to Nadira to check her ankle.

“I’ll be fine, I just stepped on it wrong, we should keep moving, they may be back.” Says Nadria.

“Do you want to make camp for the day or shall we keep moving?” Ask Adda.

“We need to keep moving, we know that the broken come to this ruin and surely they will return. We don’t want to be in sight when they come back” Nadira says as she gets up and starts to walk north of the ruin.

“Just due north is the foothills of the Forgotten Mountain, surely we may be able to find shelter there.” Adda Says

(Move: undertake the journey - weak hit mark progress suffer one supply)

Traveling through the forest was no easy task for the adventurers. The forest route to the foothills of the Forgotten Mountain was treacherous. The terrain is rocky and rough, many crevasse and large boulders block a clear path. Climbing the terrain took a small toll on their resources leaving behind much of their climbing gear. Nevertheless the adventures arrived at the foothills of the Forgotten Mountain unharmed.

As they arrive at the foothills a small cave is spotted by Nadira. The cave appeared to have once been a camp for other travelers but has long since been abandoned. Exhausted from the rigorous journey Adda enters the empty cave and sits on a rock.

“I think this may make a good place to camp for a day. We still have a long journey ahead. We’ve only made it halfway to Woodrock” Adda says quietly.

“I agree but we must return to the journey as soon as we have regained our strength Koto must be returned to the village, we don’t know what the god’s will do without.” Nadira says with a worried look on her face.

(Move: Make Camp - Strong Hit +1 health and +1 Momentum)

As the women set to make camp Adda tended to the sprained ankle Nadira suffered in an attempt to ambush the Broken men and they made plans for journey.

“There is a rough outpost just outside the village of Woodrock. Perhaps someone who will provide us with more information and from the outpost is a clear path to the village.” Adda says as she clears space in the cave to make camp.

“Do you know who runs this outpost? Are they dangerous people? Will they be welcoming to outsiders?” Nadira questions.

“Merchants, with a little coin or something to trade, everyone is their friend.” Adda replies sarcastically.
