Rainbow Six: Spawn Killing on the New Map

Players have already discovered how to spawn kill on the new map: Tower.

Operation White Noise brings a map unlike any other.

The new map and operators have been available on technical test servers for about two weeks now. This means that players on PC have been able to play on the new map called Tower, along with the new operators.

Tower is much different from any other map currently in Rainbow Six. It is unique in the regard that, unlike all the others, it does not have an outside area for defenders to run out. This means that there will be no spawn killing, right?

Wrong. Spawn killing has been an issue in Rainbow Six ever since its release two years ago in 2015. Ubisoft has been trying to solve it ever since. On other maps they have added obstacles, taken away windows, etc. All in an effort to stop the spawn killing that we all hate so much. Many fans of the game have hoped that Ubisoft will take away the defenders two seconds of detection protection when they run outside. Taking that away would help in some aspects, such as spawn killing. But it would also take away the realism of the game. It would be impossible to run out and in another entry way to get a sneaky flank if detection was immediate. However, that is a drastic decision that Ubisoft has yet to make.

On the new map, players have already found a couple of ways to kill attackers before they even get inside of the building.

Side of Tower

This new map is a nightmare for anyone who fears heights!

While attacking, players spawn in on either side of a small roof. In order for attackers to enter the map, they must rappel down the tower and enter through one of the numerous windows on different levels of the building. For once, it seemed as though attackers could escape spawn killing or spawn peeking. But of course, players will always find a way to get that early advantage.

Defenders have discovered that they can peek out of the windows. Defenders can sit in any window on the south side and shoot any attackers while they enter the rappelling animation. Of course, this can be easily solved by situational awareness and by not going down the south side. But that doesn't negate the fact that it will be quite bothersome. In some situations, it may be difficult to escape in time because you are rappelling which means movement is limited. You most likely will die before you even get a chance to react. Being vigilant while entering this map is more important than ever.

Defenders such as Pulse or Valkyrie can easily run up to any window at the start of the round and throw out a nitro cell. Depending on their luck, they could get a kill or two. Although it is not likely. This, however, is definitely not the worst that can happen to you as an attacker.

Enter the defending operator, Doc. Have any ideas yet? Well, someone certainly did. As Doc, the player can jump out of any window and land on a small platform below the attackers spawn! Doing so will immediately put him in a down but not out state. This is where Doc comes in handy: He can revive himself from that state, get up, and start shooting at any attackers that are rappelling above. This tactic may not always succeed but if it does, it can put the attackers in a very vulnerable state. Need backup when trying this? Just have any other defender jump out after Doc! Doc can pick that defender right up and the attackers will have to deal with both operators.

It is doubtful that players will see this happen very often because there is no way back in but it is good to be mindful of it. Ubisoft will hopefully fix this as soon as possible.

In the meantime, enjoy the new map and operators. Keep an eye out below for flying defenders and nitro cells!
