Enjoying a good MOBA is like having a great cup of coffee in the morning, and then throwing that cup of coffee across the room because the balance of creamer to coffee was just way off. Yea, so that's what playing Pokemon Unite is like. The mechanics, the graphics, and the gameplay are great, controls are easy to pick up and play and it's Pokemon! What could be wrong with a Pokemon MOBA game you might ask? Well here are a few points:

1.) The balance of the character moves is off a bit. New characters like Sylveon have moves that are very overpowered.

2.) The shop gets updates, yes, but the updates are subpar at best. I have accumulated over 400 fashion tickets and the fashion ticket part of the shop has gone unchanged since release. There have been no updated items since then! What am I to do with all these tickets!

3.) You get a currency called Aeos coins when completing a battle or different missions or goals. My main gripe about this is that there is a limit to how many coins you are allowed to obtain. So unless you are playing ranked matches, then once you reach the coin limit, and missions, you have nothing to work towards, besides the Aeos energy, which if you battle a lot, you probably have all of those items by now, like I do.

Those are my main gripes about the game. Besides those few things, it is an awesome game for any MOBA fan or for anyone just getting into MOBA games. Its easy to pick up and learn and if you can get over the issues that I have with it, then you will enjoy the game thoroughly.

As they add more Pokemon to the roster, let's just hope that they take some of the really annoying issues and fix those. The game has tons of potential to become one of the great MOBA's but it has some work to do.

Let's move on to a more positive note. It's fun. Pure enjoyment from a MOBA is a rare occasion in my eyes, but Unite gets that part right. I find myself playing at least a couple of games everyday.

Updates seem to come almost daily. On 10-20-21 they added a Halloween theme to the game, along with a Mer Stadium Halloween Quick Match. Halloween costumes, and skins also came out, giving a fresh feel to the game. I am partial to the quick matches myself as they are only five minutes long and you can learn a new Pokemon quickly. Sometimes you don't have time to go through a full 10 minute match, the quick match option is very helpful in this way. Other MOBA's that I have played will have even longer match times, which was always something that bothered me, but with Pokemon Unite the 5-10 minute matches are just logical.

Adding friends and playing with friends is simple like most games. The only negative here is the fact that there are missions that require one to play with a friend so many times, or inviting a friend to a game, etc. Not everyone plays with other people or can play with others. I find this to be a little bit of a disadvantage for those players, as they will not complete those missions for the extra tickets or coins, and now, for Halloween, pumpkins. For those of us that do play with friends, its a great game for teamwork and fun to just own some newbies with your buddies. I do think its time for them to add Pokemon Unite to the list of games usable on the Nintendo app for voice conversations.

Weather you are new to the MOBA craze or you have been in it since the beginning, Pokemon Unite is overall a solid game to pick up and play. Therefore it gets a good 6 out of 10 Controllers in my book. And if you are ever online, look out for SithDad, I'll be the Cinderace lighting your world on fire.
