Persona 4 is part of an iconic series and was designed by Katsura Hashino and Naoya Maeda. The story includes school life, and battling monsters. From its soundtrack to its eerie animations, the Persona franchise is unique from most Japanese video games.

Persona is in the gaming genres of Japanese role-playing (Japanese RPG), Life Simulation & Education Simulation. It allows you to take the role of the protagonist, almost appearing as if it's your life, and you're actually interacting with the characters. It gives you a way to communicate with the character by picking responses and/or actions. Those actions will impact the game as the story moves along.

I have loved playing Persona 4 ever since I was 12 years old. (And yes, I saw the M rating, but after seeing my dad play it when I was 9 years old, I got so intrigued, I played it in secret.) The theme, the aesthetics, and the music sucked me in and I played, beating boss after boss. It's been a few years, but I have noticed that Persona 4 is like a life hack for real life!

Well, minus the monsters. But the shadows are a great example of literally fighting your demons. Kinda like shadow-work. But with weapons! I want to share with you examples of why I believe Persona 4 is like a tool for reality.

Teaches You Leadership Skills

“Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things.” – Peter F. Drucker

This is a pretty good reason that I feel like most people take for granted. You play as the protagonist and have the given role of the leader of the group. This is because you are given stats on your teammates, monsters that you battle, and the personas you obtain. You can analyze situations that you're dealing with in the game, as well as tactics, and identify how characters in your team can help you fight and heal during a battle. There are also moments where either you or the party suffer from status ailments.

This can be similar to leadership skills when it comes to a company, or an organization you established. You have to be direct, make good decisions, and think about the qualities your company or group has to better itself. And just like the game itself, your actions will have consequences for you and your team.

The video below will show tips on how to be a better leader. Click below to watch!

Practicing Productivity

Persona 4 has activities that you do to level up on your status. This will also help strengthen in relationships that you have in the game, called social links. Diligence and knowledge social links are connected to what activities or jobs you do.

Diligence in the game can be leveled up when it comes to joining sports, such as the basketball or soccer team. Going regularly will raise your diligence points.

A chart from IGN that shows the points of Diligence

Diligence in life is also reflected in reality. The more you work and dedicate yourself to something, the better you get. That can be reflected in your work, schoolwork, and even your hobbies. This is a great concept and it takes dedication and efficiency to be great at it.

The Knowledge Social Skill also increases based on your productivity with your schooling. If you study at night, or the library, you receive 3 points, and the same goes for if you answer correctly. Raising your knowledge social skills will help you ace your exams in the game. The same applies to real life. If you study and review your work every day before a test, you have more chances of passing that test!

Pushes you to be courageous

"Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has courage to lose sight of the shore." -Andre Gide

Persona has a Courage social link that allows you to level up whenever you do something that's lionhearted. For example, you can ask out any girl that you interact within the game. (My personal favorite was always Chie.) And there are moments in the game when you eat something either rotten or spicy, that will bring up your courage points.

The same applies to the reality that we live. (Minus eating rotten food.) When it comes to trying new things and meeting new people, we have to step outside our comfort zone.
