Torrance Marshall confronting a ball carrier in the 1999 Independence Bowl

So I gave us all a bit of a break from the series since I've been pulling a lot of overtime at my real job while we were all also focused on the real team and getting ready for that Peach Bowl Disaster and the Holidays. Really frustrating, it's one thing to get outclassed on the field, but we didn't even put our best foot forward with all those suspensions. Both the off-field pregame variety, and the Radley-Hiles Targeting mishap. Hopefully our young team learns from this. On some level it's satisfying that Clemson lost the Title and our Consecutive Wins Record is safe for the time being, and Dabo Swinney is always annoying. A quick reminder from Last Week Tonight that Dabo Swinney is an anagram for 'Soybean Wind'. But I get and understand people that would've wanted it to go the other way.

Today we return to our Series and it's our 1999 Independence Bowl Opponents, Ole Miss, coming to Norman. Considering that was a New Year's Eve Clash way back when for Bob Stoops's First Bowl Game maybe it's appropriate that I put this off until the new year. Without further adieu, or going off on a tangent about the wasted potential of Freddy Adu, here's your Week 10 Scores:

I guess I really shouldn't have mentioned the Peach Bowl at all; we had kind of a rough start. Mere coincidence or not it's impossible to call it a coincidence as a sports fan. We had 2 turnovers in the 2 drives right after our opening touchdown. Rhamondre Stevenson bobbled a pass right to his defender, so the interception is not really Jalen's fault today. Then sure-handed Kennedy Brooks had an uncharacteristic fumble on the next drive. Both turnovers gave Ole Miss decent field position at around midfield, and we managed to hold them to just 1 Field Goal in that sequence. One for the 'its definitely a video game' column was Ole Miss's TD in the 2nd Quarter as I got a User Pass Deflection only for it to magically fall in their wide receiver's hands with nothing but green grass ahead of him as our players's momentum was carrying him towards the line of scrimmage after jumping the route and deflecting the pass. It was the kind of play you'd never see in real life because the physics involved are so improbable. So yeah, it ended up being something of a trap game that we survived and pulled away from in the 2nd Half.
