Colt McCoy's really the only Longhorn I respect enough to let in the frame, #IAmSecond.

Going into the matchup our Conference Prestige Ranking is 13.7, 2nd only to the surprising ACC at 10.5. Our Combined Opponent Record is 35-28. Texas's Combined Opponent Record is 36-23. Although their theoretical ranking as an Independent probably isn't as bad as you may think with a bye then @ #6 TCU, and @ #4 West Virginia their next 3 weeks. Aside from us though that's the only current rankings in their schedule, but we are hoping Kansas State gets ranked for both of us at some point if not in time for our Week 8 matchup. I forget if Texas's actual schedule was lost to my Setup Text Loss or not, so we'll just revisit it here real quick.

Week 1: New Mexico St, W 28-10.

Week 2: @ BYU, W 49-21.

Week 3: Ole Miss, W 31-13.

Week 4: Kansas State, W 20-13.

Week 5: Bye

Week 6: @ Iowa State, W 38-7.

Week 7: You are here.

Week 8: Bye

Week 9: @ #6 TCU

Week 10: @ #4 West Virginia

Week 11: @ Baylor

Week 12: NC State

Week 13: Texas Tech

Week 14: Bye

Week 15: Idaho.

So yeah, at least it's all FBS. This game has been known to let teams with 5 FCS Wins in the BCS Title Game. They mostly stayed with what their schedule would be except scheduling some of the other Independents as well as respectable Power (4) games with Ole Miss and NC State. So it could've been much worse. They're probably just lacking in rank because of some of their low winning margins.

Texas Qtrs. 7, 0, 7, 8

OU Qtrs. 14, 6, 7, 3

Scoring Plays:

1st Quarter:

4:18 TD OU: J. Hurts 22 Yd run (G. Brkic kick)

3:06 TD Texas: C. Johnson, 16 Yd pass from S. Ehlinger (C. Dicker kick)

2:16 TD OU: C. Rambo, 41 Yd pass from J. Hurts (G. Brkic kick)

2nd Quarter:

5:31 FG OU: G. Brkic, 53 Yd FG (This first FG was satisfying to get some Coach Experience Points for the 45 Yd+ FG, but the other 2 were not. The FG at the half was on a 4th & 4 from the Texas 5 and we could've had more time. If my 3rd Down Shovel Option had been more effective I would've went for it.)

0:00 FG OU: G. Brkic, 22 Yd FG

3rd Quarter:

3:43 TD OU: J. Hurts, 1 Yd run (G. Brkic kick)

1:40 TD Texas: J. Whittington, 7 Yd run (C. Dicker kick)

4th Quarter:

5:22 FG OU: G. Brkic, 33 Yd FG

3:03 TD Texas: D. Duvernay, 29 Yd pass from S. Ehlinger (2-Pt try was good)

The score is a bit deceptively close as we were in the Red Zone again as we ran down the clock to end the game.

Coaches Poll for Week 8:

  1. Wisconsin (39)
  2. Clemson (21)
  3. Oklahoma (1)
  4. West Virginia
  5. Virginia Tech
  6. TCU (I didn't really believe much of that TCU over LSU Week 1 Win until we had the dogfight with them this week in real life. They're a tough out despite the rough season this year.)
  7. Arizona
  8. Notre Dame, 1 Loss
  9. Georgia, 1 Loss
  10. Nebraska
  11. Miami (FL), 1 Loss
  12. Texas, 1 Loss
  13. Washington State, 1 Loss
  14. Ohio State, 2 Losses
  15. Fresno State
  16. South Carolina, 2 Losses
  17. Missouri
  18. Mississippi State
  19. LSU, 2 Losses
  20. UCF, 2 Losses
  21. Oregon, 1 Loss
  22. Kentucky, 3 Losses
  23. Michigan, 2 Losses
  24. Washington, 3 Losses
  25. Alabama, 4 Losses (I remember way back when one of my Stillwater friends griping about OU hanging in the AP Poll before Bedlam despite already having 4 Losses at the time, but this is completely ridiculous. Alabama is 1 Game under .500 for crying out loud at this point. They're 4 Ranked Losses, but still.)

Kansas State, our next opponent, manages only 5 votes in the Coaches Poll and 75 votes in the Media Poll. We remain Coaches #3 and Media #2 with 21 1st Place Media Votes. Boomer Sooner and thank you for your interest.
