It's easy not to feel sorry about Alex Kidd. Nintendo moved forward in the 1980s with their dungareed Mascot, Super Mario Bros. In 1985, it changed how we looked at side scrolling platformers forever. Sega, however, couldn't resist introducing Alex Kidd to Miracle World in 1986. Alex Kidd, despite six games being released in the span of four years, would not be "Sega’s Mario". Sega switched to Sonic the Hedgehog, and the Kidd was forgotten. Until now.

Dungeons, Dragons is a world filled with mysterious treasures and giant monsters. The worlds created by the tabletop RPG player guide book contain some of most terrifying and nasty creatures from high fantasy. They include the fierce-toothed Goblins as well as the giant Frost Giants. Dungeons & Dragons Dark Alliance lets you fight hordes and monsters as one four legendary heroes in fantastic fantasy locations. This is not a tabletop game, but it is more about action than strategy.

Stormcloaks vs Imperials: Who Should You Side With? Contains minor spoilers!* Skyrim is riddled with choices. What makes it so fun is the fact you get to create your own way. Some choices are easy to make (helping Kodlak Whiteman with his last request), down to the hard ones (do I kill Paartnurnax? But that’s a discussion for another time). One of the choices I personally don’t like making is which side in the war are you going to choose? Are you going to side with the Legion? Honouring the empire? Or are you going to side with the rebellion, siding with Ulfric, the one who murdered Skyrim’s High King? It doesn’t matter which side you choose, there are of course downfalls and upside to each.

Tabletop Games: The Hangover-free Social Lubricant
I have had difficulties with social interactions for most of my life. Whether this is due to growing up awkward and nerdy during a time in which those traits tended to be punished by your peers or if it was the underlying anxiety disorder, I didn’t realize I had for years, I am not sure. Though I suspect it’s a little bit of both. I tend to freeze up and begin acting very shy around new people. It takes a great deal of energy for me to push myself passed it. I found alcohol tended to ease that quite a bit when I got older, though it comes with a litany of undesirable side effects. Then within the past decade I discovered tabletop games. I’m not talking about the old Milton Bradley standards of my youth, like Monopoly and its ilk. No sir. There is a new breed of games out there that come in wide variety of styles and complexity. I found fairly quickly that having a game on the table to distract my brain made it easier for me to get out of my own way and talk to new people.
