Dark and Darker, a subterranean extraction hack-and-slasher game, has made quite an impact in the gaming community, especially during the latest Steam Next Fest.

It quickly became one of the biggest games on Steam, attracting many players with its unique concept and engaging gameplay.

However, not everyone had the chance to fully immerse themselves in the game, as some were distracted by other titles such as Weird West.

Fortunately, Ironmace, the developer behind Dark and Darker, has announced another playtesting session in April, giving players another opportunity to experience the game.

Ironmace expressed its gratitude to players who participated in the game’s previous playtests, as it received valuable feedback on how to proceed with the game’s development.

The studio also revealed that the latest playtest raised “important questions that need to be answered.” As a result, Ironmace has decided to conduct another round of playtesting before the game’s planned to launch into early access.

Ironmace shared its plans for the upcoming playtest, stating that it will test some substantial additions that require more development time than previous playtests.

The studio acknowledged that the extended downtime between playtests may disappoint fans but promised to work hard to make the next playtest even better than before. The fifth playtest for Dark and Darker is scheduled for April 14–19th, and Ironmace has not yet announced an early access launch date.

Despite its promising performance on Steam and the enthusiasm of its players, Dark and Darker has faced allegations of copyright infringement. It has been suggested that the game is based on a canceled Nexon project called P3 and uses assets and code stolen from that game.

However, Ironmace CEO Terence Seung-ha has denied these claims, stating that “absolutely no stolen assets or code were used to make our game.”

He also stated that, to the best of his knowledge, “you cannot copyright a game genre.” While the claims of copyright infringement have yet to be resolved, Ironmace remains committed to continuing the development of Dark and Darker.

Dark and Darker’s popularity on Steam has sparked excitement among players and industry experts alike. Its unique concept, engaging gameplay, and stunning graphics have attracted many players, making it one of the most talked-about games of the year.

The game’s success on Steam, coupled with its upcoming playtest, suggests that Ironmace is dedicated to developing a high-quality game that will be enjoyed by many.
