Many Resident Evil 4 fans were disappointed that there was no information on Ada Wong's Separate Ways campaign at the most recent PlayStation Showcase event. The remake of Resident Evil 4 was released earlier this year to acclaim, but it did not escape criticism.

The majority of the criticism leveled at the Resident Evil 4 remake was attributable to the absence of game modes from previous iterations of the game. At launch, Assignment Ada and Mercenaries were included in Resident Evil 4, while the PS2 re-release added the popular Separate Ways campaign. Despite the addition of Mercenaries to the Resident Evil 4 remake, Assignment Ada and Separate Ways remain absent.

Some Resident Evil fans hoped to learn more about the Separate Ways DLC at the PlayStation Showcase, but while Resident Evil 4 was present, the Ada Wong side quest was not mentioned. Instead, the VR variant of Resident Evil 4 was highlighted at the PlayStation Showcase, which appears remarkable but has yet to be released. Shortly after the conclusion of the PlayStation Showcase, "Separate Ways" became a prominent topic on Twitter due to the number of disappointed Resident Evil fans who were disappointed that Separate Ways was absent.

There is datamining evidence that future Resident Evil 4 remake updates or DLC will include Separate Ways, but Capcom has made no official announcement. In light of this, admirers may wish to temper their expectations. The only future content that Resident Evil 4 aficionados can anticipate at this time is the eventual VR mode.

The VR mode for the Resident Evil 4 remake is anticipated to be a free update when it arrives. The original Resident Evil 4 VR game remains one of the highest-rated virtual reality games to date, and there is little reason to believe that the VR mode of the Resident Evil 4 remake won't be just as excellent. Fans of Resident Evil 4 will have a new way to experience the remake, with a first-person perspective and reworked controls, but they'll need a PlayStation VR2 headset to check it out.

Fans of Resident Evil 4 who own a PlayStation VR2 may find that the VR mode is precisely what they need to extend their playtime. Those who have already defeated the Resident Evil 4 remake on the hardest difficulty with the highest rank may be famished for more RE experiences, so VR will presumably sustain them over while they await tidings on the Separate Ways DLC.

At the PlayStation Showcase for May 2023, Sony announced a raft of new PSVR2 titles, including some really cool looking titles.

Perhaps the biggest one of the lot, however, is Resident Evil 4: VR Edition. Having only just been released and already being one of the highest rated games of 2023, Resident Evil 4 in VR is a terrifying concept. I had a go at Resident Evil Village in VR, and let me tell you, it was pant-shittingly scary.

It’s worth noting Capcom has already confirmed the VR mode for Resident Evil 4 will be free DLC exclusively for PlayStation 5 / PSVR2, and that more information about it will be released “at a later date”. Check out the trailer, below:

Get even closer to Leon S. Kennedy’s critically acclaimed story of survival with the Resident Evil 4 VR Mode free DLC coming exclusively to PlayStation VR®2 for those who own the game on PlayStation®5. The PlayStation Showcase provided eager fans with a first look at gameplay, demonstrating how the PlayStation®VR2 Sense controller makes core gameplay systems such as parrying enemy attacks even more immersive and intuitive. More information on when players can experience Resident Evil 4 VR Mode first hand will be shared at a later date.
