So, in my previous posts, I’ve talked about these sick games based on Marvel movies. You can check ’em out at the end of this one.

But today, I wanna chat about the king himself, Black Panther, and this dope new game they’re cookin’ up for our badass hero from Wakanda. Let’s get right into it!

Who is Black Panther?

Let me tell you about Black Panther, one of the coolest superheroes out there. Black Panther isn’t just a character, but also the title given to the protector of Wakanda, a fictional African nation that’s more technologically advanced than any other country in the Marvel Universe.

Black Panther is this incredibly skilled and powerful hero who first appeared in Marvel Comics back in 1966. His real name is T’Challa, and he hails from the royal family of Wakanda.

When his father, King T’Chaka, passed away, T’Challa took up the mantle of Black Panther and became the new king.

What makes Black Panther truly unique is his vibranium-enhanced suit. Vibranium is this extraordinary metal found only in Wakanda. It’s super-strong, absorbs vibrations, and can be used in all sorts of incredible ways.

T’Challa’s suit is made entirely out of vibranium, making him nearly invulnerable to attacks and allowing him to absorb and redirect kinetic energy.

But there’s more! Black Panther is not just a master of hand-to-hand combat, but he’s also a genius scientist and strategist. He’s trained extensively in various forms of martial arts and is considered one of the best fighters in the Marvel Universe.

Combine that with his sharp intellect and tactical mind, and you’ve got a force to be reckoned with.

Beyond being a superhero, Black Panther’s role as the king of Wakanda adds an extra layer of responsibility to his character. He’s not just out there fighting bad guys; he’s also dedicated to protecting and advancing his nation.

Wakanda is a unique blend of tradition and technology, and T’Challa strives to maintain its secrecy and prosperity while navigating the challenges of the outside world.

What makes Black Panther even more special is the representation and cultural significance he brings to the table. As a black superhero, he’s become a symbol of empowerment and inspiration for people all around the globe, especially for the African diaspora.

The 2018 “Black Panther” film directed by Ryan Coogler showcased the character’s rich heritage, highlighting the importance of Afrofuturism and celebrating African culture like never before.

A Black Panther Game?

EA just announced that they’re working on a single-player Black Panther game! Marvel has been killing it in the gaming world lately, and this new game could be another big hit.

Do you know what game really nailed the character-focused Marvel experience? Marvel’s Spider-Man by Insomniac Games. It’s been crazy successful!

When the PC version of Spider-Man Remastered came out in August 2022, it even beat God of War’s sales in the UK during its opening week. And by May 2023, Sony said it sold over 1.5 million copies on PC, making $52 million in revenue.

It’s no surprise that Marvel fans have high expectations for more awesome single-player games. I’m curious to see how EA will do, though, since they usually make games for multiple platforms.

But hold up, EA isn’t only working on Black Panther. They signed a deal with Marvel for three games, including Iron Man and now Black Panther. Cliffhanger Games is tackling Black Panther, and EA Motive is handling the Iron Man game.

We don’t know much about the Iron Man game yet, other than the fact that development has already begun. And EA has another secret Marvel project in the works too, but there’s no solid info on what that’ll be.

Final Words

Don’t worry, though. While we wait for Black Panther and Iron Man, we have some other Marvel games to look forward to.

Insomniac is releasing Spider-Man 2 on October 20, and there’s even a rumor that Marvel’s Wolverine will come out in late 2024.

So, the next few years are gonna be a blast for Marvel gamers!
