As I have mentioned in multiple previous posts, Discord is finally coming to the PlayStation consoles this year.

Although the exciting news is that the beta for this feature is currently available to PS5 beta participants.

In August 2022, I posted the attached article.

In this post, I’ll be talking about this beta and how to participate in the beta.

Discord on PlayStation

Discord, the go-to voice chat software for PC gamers, is finally making its way to PlayStation 5 consoles.

The software, which is currently in beta testing and available to PS5 beta participants, will be available to all PS5 owners later this year.

This is a long-awaited move, following the integration of PlayStation accounts into Discord over a year ago, allowing users to display their PS4 and PS5 game activity on their Discord profiles.

How to participate in the beta

To participate in the beta, users must link their PlayStation Network and Discord accounts. This will require new permissions, even if the linking process has already been done in the past.

Once the accounts are linked, users can access Discord’s voice chat feature on their PS5. The process is simple — on mobile, look for the “Join on PlayStation” button, and on PC, look for a button resembling a phone and game controller.

After pressing the button, select “PlayStation” as the transfer destination, and voila, you can use all of Discord’s voice chat controls on your PS5.

This integration is a significant quality-of-life improvement for gamers who play on multiple platforms. With cross-platform play becoming increasingly common, cross-platform chat is a logical step forward.

It enables gamers to keep in touch with their online friends, no matter what system they’re playing on.

Although the full rollout date for Discord voice chat on PlayStation 5 has not been announced, it is expected to happen soon. If beta participants encounter any issues, they can seek help from the Discord support site.
