(A Joke) A Short Thesis on Why Hostage Situations Should Not Be in 'Rainbow Six Siege'

Hostage situations in Rainbow Six Siege provide players with the ability to simulate what happens during real life hostage crises. It also allows players to test their tactical skills and awareness as they must down enemy players while protecting/rescuing the hostage, and at the same time trying not to injure the hostage. While this is competitive and fun to play, there are some good reasons as to why it should not be in the game.

First and foremost, the nature of hostage situations in Siege restricts certain operators, primarily Fuze, from reaching their full potential. As the hostage is vulnerable, bullets and explosives will bring harm to, or even kill the hostage. Fuze is notorious for not just causing harm to, but killing the hostage, and costing his team the round, or even the match. Fuze is one of the most heavily armored operators and has one of the most powerful gadgets, the Cluster Charge, which spreads miniature grenades over a certain area when activated, and can be devastating to enemy players, especially those of low health or in the wrong place at the wrong time. Unfortunately, his gadget can also be devastating to the hostage, and this causes him to be sidelined during hostage missions. This is one of the reasons why hostage situations should be removed from regular multiplayer, and instead be reserved for Terrorist Hunt and the Situations.

Secondly, provided Fuze manages to secure the hostage, he will have to escort the hostage out of the building to the extraction zone. The problem with this is that Fuze is one of the slower operators in the game, so escorting precious cargo while also only being able to use his sidearm is a huge problem. He becomes a slow running bullseye for any remaining defenders to have a field day on. If that wasn't enough, defenders are able to leave the building in order to prevent the full extraction of the hostage, meaning if Fuze is tracked down he could be in major trouble, and may even lose the round. Granted, he may be a three armored operator, however it stands to reason that due to his size, his hitbox would be larger than other operators and cause him to take more hits. Taken all together, this is another obstacle that sidelines Fuze and causes his potential in-game to be wasted.

Third, speaking from a logical point of view, players rarely, if ever, attempt to rescue the hostage in the game. Most of the effort is spent on eliminating enemy players and avoiding causing injury to the hostage. The Hostage game mode should be reserved for Terrorist Hunt and the Situations, as the circumstances are more suited for a hostage. Not only that, an unintended consequence of the hostage being able to be killed allows toxic players to kill the hostage intentionally in order to lose their team the round, and it is certainly possible some players will misuse Fuze in order to do this, thereby causing their team to lose any advantage they may have had.

Fourth, Fuze's reputation is damaged by his link to the death of hostages in Rainbow Six Siege. Due to constant memes, it is hard to think of Fuze without the hostage being killed by cluster grenades. Fuze is a powerful operator that can push defenders out of cover, deny roamers an advantage, give Attackers an edge when it counts, act as a shield for allies, and more, and it is sad that his reputation has to be ruined by one simple game mode.

P.S—this is a JOKE. None of this is to be taken seriously, thank you for reading.
