5 Games That Need to Be on Current Gen Consoles

1. 'The Simpsons: Hit & Run'

Hit & Run released on the 16th of September 2003. Developed by Radical Entertainment and was available on all relevant platforms at the time, those platforms being Sony’s PlayStation 2, Nintendo's GameCube and Microsoft’s Xbox. Hit & Run did later come to PC in November of the same year.

The game was considered a (mostly) child friendly parody version of the revered by many 'Grand Theft Auto' series. As of today, over three million copies of this much loved game have sold worldwide, whenever the storm of internet rumours start flying about a possible port or maybe even a remaster on current consoles, there is more than enough of a fan response to justify it.

2. A 'Spyro' Collection

Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage and Spyro: Year of the Dragon are the first three entries in the 'Spyro' series. All three games released in a three year window from 1998 to 2000 on the PlayStation One. The reason for such a quick turnaround of the sequels is due to Spyro the Dragon becoming a commercial success by selling over five million copies. The 'Spyro' series did continue over to later consoles but for now the first three entries would do, come on Sony.

Whether in the form of a remaster or a port I think it’s about time we see Spyro and his friend Sparx the dragonfly on the PlayStation 4.

3. The 'Sly' Collection

The Sly Collection was released on the PlayStation 3 and included the first three entries in the series. The games originally released on the PlayStation 2 selling around three million units combined. The first initially had slower sales even though it was met with positive reviews.

Upon the release of the The Sly Collection, there was a good amount of fanfare that saw many players streaming and making walk-through videos. We saw The 'Jak and Daxter' trilogy have a second release on the PlayStation 4 and also adding Jak X Racing so it’s not to out there to ask for a Sly Collection re-release surely?

4. 'Test Drive: Eve of Destruction/Driven to Destruction'

The demolition derby game genre has mostly disappeared from the modern gaming space, but back in 2004 fans of the genre were given Test Drive: Eve of Destruction (US)/ Driven To Destruction (EU). The game was met with a mixed reception from critics but many gamers were very fond of the title, that being said the game didn’t receive terrible reviews and averaged around a 7.5.

Two player favourite game modes include the “Figure 8 Jump Race” which was about as chaotic as it sounds and “Detention” that gave the player a school bus, a big open track and a bunch of NPC cars to wreck. This needs a remaster.

5. A 'Resistance' Trilogy

Resistance: Fall of Man was released in 2006, followed by Resistance 2 in 2008 and Resistance 3 in 2011. All three of the main series entries were developed by Insomniac Games and received around an 8.5 or equivalent from most game review sites. All three games are PlayStation 3 exclusive.

When war games were simply war games the 'Resistance' series brought us some change. As good as war games are whether it’s 'Call of Duty,' 'Battlefield' or 'Medal of Honour,' 'Resistance' was a nice a break. The story followed American and British soldiers joining forces to fight aliens know as Chimera and stop them from taking over Europe.

Insomniac has stated they wont be making any more 'Resistance' games, however, they have said they are open to another studio remastering the three main titles for them.
