4. Runescape

Runescape is the most popular free-to-play MMOs, and now is an excellent time to take a closer look. It began its third relaunch in 2013 - this is 'Runescape 3', however if you're just getting started, you might not realise it's been around in some form or another for more than ten years.

Despite the revamp, it's still not the most exciting MMO out there, but keeping so many players indicates it's doing something right. 8. Smite

In Smite, gods from all pantheons battle it out in a free-to-play Dota/MOBA-style battle. Smite is a wholly different beast than Tribes Ascend, despite its obvious similarities. It comes from the same developer that brought us the FPS smash Tribes Ascend.

This time, the camera is behind the actors, giving you a closer connection to the action than merely controlling your lord with a mouse. However, if you've played its origins, the concept will be recognisable, or it will serve as a method to gain a sense for the style if you haven't. Zeus, Thor, Kali, Artemis, and... Cupid are among the gods. At the very least, he has his bow.

9. The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit

One of the finest recent adventure games on PC is Life is Strange and its sequel. Fortunately for us, there is now a method to watch this incredible series for free. The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, which was first revealed at E3 2018, puts you in the shoes of 9-year-old Chris as he and his alter ego, Captain Spirit, go on a tremendous adventure.

It would be an understatement to say that Battle Royale games were popular in 2020. The degree of success that Apex Legends has achieved so rapidly after launch, on the other hand, speaks for itself. It has undoubtedly earned its place as one of the finest free games on this list. Not only is the game itself fantastic, integrating innovative elements from the fantastic Titanfall games to a Battle Royale setting, but it has also surpassed a staggering 25 million gamers in only one week.

Apex Legends puts 60 players against each other in the midst of a massive battlefield, each with their own set of unique powers that make fighting and navigation addictive. It's not quite as chaotic as 100-player battle royale games like Fortnite or PUBG, but it's a good compromise. You're missing out if you haven't yet jumped on the Apex Legends bandwagon.
