History of Iran before Islam

The border of Iran kept increasing and decreasing in every period. Today's Iran is very different from the Iran of ancient times. Iran was earlier identified as a Persian country. Before that it was called Aryana. In ancient times the country of Paras was the abode of a branch of the Aryans. In the Vedic era, the entire land from Paras to the banks of the Ganga and Saryu was Arya land, which was divided into many regions. Just as the area around Punjab in India was called Aryavarta, in the same way in ancient Persia, the eastern region adjacent to modern Afghanistan was called 'Arian' or 'Aryan' (Greek Ariana), which later became the word 'Iran'.

Arya was used in front of the names of Sasan dynasty emperors and officials of Iran, such as 'Iran Spahpat' (soldier or general of Iran), 'Iran Ambarakpat' (storekeeper of Iran) etc. The ancient Parsis proudly used the word 'Arya' with their names. The ancient emperor Daryavahu (Dara) has written himself as Ariyaputra. The word 'Arya' is found in the names of chieftains, such as Ariyaramr, Ariovarjanis etc.

How Paras was named Paras

Among the many regions in which ancient Paras was divided, there was also the Pars or Parsya region on the eastern coast of the Gulf of Paras, after which the whole country was later named Paras, a part of which is Persia. Its ancient capital was Parsyapur (Greek-Persepolis), where 'Istakh' was later settled. The name 'Paras' was not famous during the Vedic period. This name began to be used for the whole country from the time of the emperors of the Takhamaniyya dynasty, who belonged to the Persian region. This is the reason why this word is not known in Vedas and Ramayana, but in Mahabharata, Raghuvansh, Kathasaritsagara etc. mention of Parsya and Parsis is found equally.
Ancient Paras was divided into many regions. The region to the south-west of the Caspian sea was called Media, which could be the answer to Madra of the ancient texts like Atreya Brahmana. Zarathustra (the founder of Zoroastrianism) preached his branch here. Historians are of the opinion that Zarathustra was born between 1700-1500 BC. This was almost the same period, while King Sudas was ruling in Aryavarta and on the other hand Hazrat Ibrahim was propagating his religion….. The establishment of the oldest state of Paras is known from this region. Earlier this region was under the authority of the non-Aryan Asura caste whose country (present day Assyria) was to the west from here.

Before Islam, the state religion of Iran was Zoroastrianism. In the 6th century BC a great Persian (ancient Iranian) empire was founded in Persepolis which ruled over 3 continents and 20 nations for a long period of time. The state religion of this empire was 'Zoroastrian', established by Zaratosht or Zarathustra in 1700-1800 BC and its crores of followers spread from Rome to the Indus River.

According to the history of the Persians, before the kingdom of Iran came in the hands of the Arabs (Muslim Caliphate), so many dynasties ruled Iran in sequence:- 1. Mahabad dynasty, 2. Peshdadi dynasty, 3. Kavyani dynasty, 4. First Modi Dynasty, 5. Asura (Assyrian) Dynasty, 6. Second Modi Dynasty, 7. Hakhamani Dynasty (Azimgarh Empire), 8. Parthian or Askani Dynasty and 9. Sasan or Sasanian Dynasty. The description of the lineage of Mahabad and Goormad is legendary. He used to fight with the gods. Jal, Rustum etc. became heroes in the Kavyani dynasty, who have immortalized their fame in Firdausi's Shahnameh after fighting with Turanis. It was in this dynasty that Gushtaspa happened around 1300 BC, during which Zarathustra emerged.

The description of the lineage of Mahabad and Goormad is legendary. He used to fight with the gods. Husang, the grandson of Goormad, started agriculture, irrigation, weaponry etc. and got the title of Peshdad (regulator). Hence the name of the dynasty. His son Tehemur established many cities. Spread civilization and got the title of Devband (Devghna). Jamshed was born in this dynasty, whose Suraj and justice are very famous. He corrected the Samvatsar and started the New Year festival on the spring equinox, which is popular among the Parsis by the name of Jamshedi Nauroz.

Persepolis was first settled by the son of Vistasp, but earlier it was considered to be settled by Jamshed. His son Ferendu was a great hero who drove away the governor Johak with the help of a warrior named Kaav. Jal, Rustam etc. became heroes in the Kavyani dynasty who have immortalized their fame in Firdausi's Shahnameh after fighting with Turanis. It was in this dynasty that Gushtaspa happened around 1300 BC, during which Zarathustra emerged.

The first attack on Iran

Andrews, Scotland, three things every tourist who visits the ruins of Persepolis, the capital of the ancient Iranian Achaemenid Empire, is told that it was built by Darius the Great. It was further extended by his son Xerxes, but it was destroyed by 'that man' whose name was Alexander.

Cyrus the Great (Persian: Kurosh) was the founder of the new empire in 576 BC, who belonged to the 'Hakkamanis' dynasty. The reign (522-486 BC) of Emperor 'Darayavush' I of this dynasty, also known as 'Dara' or 'Darius', is called the peak period of the Persian Empire.

This empire could not stand before the invasion of Alexander in 330 BC. In 224 AD, another dynasty 'Sassanian' was established by the Zoroastrian religion 'Ardashir' (Artakshira) I and the rule of this dynasty continued till almost 7th century. Islam entered Iran in the beginning of the 7th century.

Islamic Invasion and the Struggle of the Parsis:

Before the origin of Islam, Zoroastrian religion was prevalent in ancient Iran. In the 7th century, Turks and Arabs barbarically invaded Iran and ended the massacre. After the fall of the 'Sassanian' empire, the Persians started fleeing their country to avoid being persecuted by the Muslim invaders. During this period of Islamic Revolution, some Iranians did not accept Islam and fled to India on a boat.
