Weathering the Storm

They Come and Go

Just as the seasons come and go, so do the people we meet in life. Sometimes the season may bring destruction or it may bring rays of light; the outcome depends solely on how you deal with the changes. There was a man who met a woman one beautiful fall evening as the sun was setting and his intentions to make her his wife were never ending; however she failed to realize his deception. They went through several storms due to the disconnection and he ignored every lesson. This woman was very intellectual and intended on being successful and everything he did was an attempt on her destruction. We’ll call this woman Sarah to protect her in this era, and the man named Nojh to address his wrongs. Just a short story about the brief moments that can change your life, but no matter how traumatic, I intend to help show you how things that go wrong can be made right.

The night that Nojh approached Sarah she wasn’t very interested. As October ended Sarah continued with her life; raising her children, working in the day and going to school at night. Months had passed and she hadn’t seen Nojh, but then one day she came home and he was in her home that she shared with her cousin sitting at the kitchen table. As Sarah proceeded to her room without acknowledging Nojh, she could feel him watching her as she walked across the room. As the evening progressed Sarah began her nightly routine cooking for her children and preparing for the next day. Nojh sat quietly watching until his ego would not let him anymore; asking Sarah what her name was and expressing his interest once again. This time Sarah gave in as the butterflies fluttered in her stomach. They conversated through the night as she continued tending to her children, they exchanged numbers and then Nojh went home.

They became inseparable, and after a few months of dating, Sarah ended up getting pregnant with their son. Sarah and Nojh were overjoyed until the phone call came through and a woman was telling a different story than what Nojh had told. Sarah knew how the story would unfold and attempted to prevent future issues by simply disappearing. But little did she know it was just the beginning of the show. The next four years would seem like a lifetime even though it was just a short season in the long life she would be living and the lessons she learned were ever so priceless and she used them to guide her further decision making process. Unfortunately, for Nojh the situation wasn’t the same. When their son was born Nojh was nowhere to be found and Sarah was determined for their son to know his father. After a few months of searching Nojh finally resurfaced, asking Sarah to bring their son to him so they could be united. Sarah obliged, driving several hours to Nojh. It was such a joy to see the two together bonding for the first time, as tired as Sarah was she couldn’t close her eyes. Little did they know this would also be the last time. This is why it is so important to show people you love them every moment you are with them.

Just three days after meeting his father their son passed away. Sarah was heartbroken and Nojh couldn’t imagine seeing another day. He sat in the bathroom with a gun to his head and in came Sarah to save the day. As Sarah pulled the gun from his hand and talked him out of his plan she failed to realize the responsibility she had taken. For the next few years Nojh’s sanity was solely dependent on Sarah, and the road to happiness would be rocky and never-ending. Nojh was dependent on Sarah to bear the burden so he wouldn’t have to admit what he’d done on his part. Eight months had passed and Sarah was pregnant with another child, and to add to their joy it was another boy. Due to complications in the relationship Sarah had moved across the country, and when she went into labor Nojh literally came flying in the same day, for the lesson he learned from their first loss was forever on his heart, even though he repeatedly blamed Sarah which ws how he decided to cope. Their son was born with a few complications and was in the NICU for a few weeks, which Nojh also blamed Sarah for repeatedly. After a day at the hospital Nojh returned to his home and Sarah would visit periodically.

As unbelievable as it may sound, six days before their first son passed, Sarah woke up and their second son was gone. Dreading calling Nojh, Sarah had the authorities report the news to him. A few months passed and she hadn’t heard from Nojh, then he called begging her to come home. As she returned home to Nojh she was hoping things would be different, but the dependency Nojh had for Sarah had grown increasingly. Sarah eventually decided it was time to leave permanently. So she strategically jumped ship.

Sarah moved into an apartment with her older children and began the process of healing from the emotional storms she had endured through the seasons with Nojh. She continuously hoped for the best even though she had a feeling there were still storms ahead. Fortunately, Sarah had left before she became collateral damage due to a run in with the law. Sarah had been separated from Nojh for roughly six months when she was watching TV with her new significant other. As the news was covering local events Sarah saw the home she lived in with Nojh surrounded with crime scene tape, news cameras, an ambulance and police cars. As the story began to unfold Sarah realized that ending her relationship with Nojh led to his destruction; he lashed out the same week their sons had passed, shooting at the neighbors, sending bullets through their homes and then shooting the responding authorities. Which resulted in the officer shooting and wounding Nojh and ending in a long jail stay. Knowing he would now get the help he needed brought Sarah great relief. Since Nojh was dependent on Sarah to be around to keep him sane, her disappearance from his life caused him to go out and terrorize those around him since she was no longer there for him to argue, smite with evil words and place blame.

The trauma that was endured during these four years out of thirty-five and counting resulted in four of the most important lessons Sarah learned. Lesson number one is to never be dependent on anyone but yourself for your mental stability. Lesson number two is to never take on the responsibility to be in a relationship if the other person is not aware, in control or accountable for their own mental health. Lesson number three is to know when the burden is too heavy to bear. The fourth lesson, but not the least, is to never continue a relationship that lacks equality, reciprocity and equal responsibility for one’s behaviors when weathering a storm. Sarah often wishes she would have stuck to her first mind and never dated Nojh, but the experience she gained helps make the world a better place. And every day that ship she jumped from sails further away and becomes a memory of a dead end lane.
