Meet Your Descendent

The internet and social media have impacted our lives in more ways than one. Technology has completely transformed our society so rapidly, for some of us, it's almost hard to remember life before our constant interconnectivity. While others know nothing but technology.

Our dependency on technology has grown to more than addiction, but an extra limb. As such, our relationship with technology and the internet is a love affair that distracts us from our reality and robs us of our time.

Some of us experience life through the lense. Getting little hits of dopamine we control in our fingers, becoming seduced by technology - addicted. Our overexposure to technology is detrimental to our physical well-being, as the internet is for our mental health...

Let me introduce you to the future of the human species, and YOUR descendent. Mindy, 22nd century human and much has changed...

3D model Mindy created by TollFreeForwarding.com

Mindy has Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. CTS is where pressure on a nerve in your wrist causes pain and numbness in your hand and fingers. Scientists refer to this as tech claw. Meaning, human hands will develop to hold technology.

A study conducted by WhistleOut, a mobile comparison site, revealed that we spread about nine years of our lives looking at our phones. As a further consequence of this, Mindy's elbows are at a constant 90-degree angle, otherwise known as Cubital Tunnel Syndrome.

To stop Cubital Tunnel Syndrome (numbness and shooting pains in the forearm) is to stop doing the activity that causes it.

But how can we? When it keeps us awake at night, and it's the first thing we look at when we wake up to check the time?

We are like bent-neck moths to blue-light. Speaking of which...

Some researchers believe moth eyes could stop the problem of glare on mobile devices. His name is Mick.

According to Maple Holistic's, a health and wellness company,

"Spending hours looking down at your phone strains your neck and throws your spine off balance.

Sitting in front of the computer at the office for hours on end also means that your torso is pulled out in front of your hips rather than being stacked straight and aligned."

TollFreeForwarding the company that created Mindy, have said -

"Mindy’s neck muscles have lengthened to reduce the damage caused by her poor posture, which has resulted from extensive monitor and smartphone use."

And that's not all...

Mindy has a bigger head and thicker skull because of radiofrequency radiation emitted from smartphones. Therefore, we should never sleep with our phones under our pillows and loudspeaker is better.

She has a smaller brain because of a sedentary lifestyle, which reduces human brain capacity, cognitive function and many other serious health complications.

Finally, to top it all off. Mindy has two sets of eyelids. Yes, you read that right; two. The University of Toledo suggests that -

“Humans may develop a larger inner eyelid to prevent exposure to excessive light, or the lens of the eye may be developed such that it blocks incoming blue light.”

And that's Miss Mindy. Isn't she a delight?

Now don't worry, the irony of writing this on a piece of technology hasn't escaped me. I just wanted to bring your attention to Mindy. I ask of you, the reader, to spend more time reading books than threads and exchange scrolling for more strolling.

There's an entire world out there that we can instantly see from the devices in our pockets. We are all existing in cyberspace at once a total 69% of the global population. However, we also exist in our local space, our communities, and they are being neglected.

So for Mindy's sake, look up more often instead of down. The stars and skies are beautiful.
