The art of magic has been fascinating people for centuries. The tricks were not as unique in the past as they are now, but they were surely enchanting. People in the past used to think of magic as some sort of paranormal power, but the fact is that it is all about deception. The more you deceive your audience, the better your performance as a magician is. Even though everyone knows the truth about magic now yet, we love to be deceived by the magicians and enjoy the tricks they play with us.

There are so many magicians and illusionists nowadays. They perform at all sorts of events, whether they are corporate ones, birthdays, or even weddings. If you wish to know about the top magicians of all time, then this article is for you. This article discusses the history and achievements of the five best magicians in the world. These ten performers are the best in their field, and their skills are unmatchable.

1- David Copperfield

If you are talking about the famous magicians and the name of David Copperfield isn’t on your list, you need to revise the list. From card tricks to classic illusions where he cuts a woman in half, his unique illusions have made Copperfield one of the most successful magicians in the world. As a child, he started practicing magic and ventriloquism at Camp Harmony near Warren, New Jersey. Copperfield's television career got started when he was discovered by Joseph Cates, producer of Broadway shows and television programs. From 1978 to 2004, several special shows were aired on television about the magic tricks and illusions of David Copperfield. Being a master performer and storyteller, Copperfield has earned nearly 12 Guinness World Records and won 21 Emmy Awards for his TV shows. Copperfield performed some amazing card tricks but is best known for his massive illusions, such as the escape from Alcatraz, the disappearance of a giant plane, and even the disappearance of the Statue of Liberty.

2- Apollo Robbins

An expert in picking pockets, and trickery, Apollo Robbins regards himself as the gentleman thief. His most famous tricks feature stealing or making something disappear from his audience, thereby leaving them astonished. However, the audience gets their belongings back in the end. Apollo Robbins first made himself known by stealing and, of course, returning several things from former President Jimmy Carter's secret service agents. This trick made a huge impact on the law enforcement agencies that they had to contact him and ask him to help them learn how to tackle daily robberies. Thanks to Robbins and his skills, he has appeared on National Geographic's Brain Games several times. On the show, he demonstrated and explained how easy it is to fool our brains. He has also appeared on many other television shows. Apollo is one of the favorite magicians on many people's lists because of his ability to deliver a special kind of magic with confidence.

3- Val Valentino (The Masked Magician)

Val Valentino is an illusionist based in New York City who has performed numerous theatrical performances in different circuses. He is known for his appearance as "The Masked Wizard" on television. The program uses a mysterious masked figure to reveal different magic tricks. But people wondered that why is he doing this anonymously? During his time, the attitude of people towards magic was different.

Moreover, the performers were also hesitant to reveal their secrets behind different tricks. The reason behind this was the fear that this would bring an end to the earning of certain amateur magicians and illusionists. But Valentino eventually exposed himself on camera. He proudly declared that understanding tricks doesn’t end the interest of people. However, it allows them to understand the hard work behind the performances. Valentino explains that exposing older magic tricks also makes way for a magician to innovate and advance towards a new level.

4- Shin Lim

Known as one of the best magician in the world in 2021, Shin Lim is a Canadian-American illusionist. He specializes in dexterity and card tricks, but he also deals with coin manipulation, close-up illusions, mentalism, and escape. He overcame the problem of severed tendons in one hand and is said to be a friendly and sociable person. Lim has won several awards throughout his career that helped him evolve into a great magician. He took second place in the 2010 World Magic Championships as the best close-up magician. He has also appeared at America's Got Talent and World Magic Awards. Lim has also been featured on the cover of Genii Magazine twice; the first one was because of his close-up magic performances, while the second was because of his interview about mentalism.

5- David Blaine

David Blaine is a top-rated illusionist of America and is commonly known for his incredible stunts and amazing magic tricks. Being perfect in sleight of the hands and other card tricks, Blaine has made his name from serious stunts that have amazed people. His stunts include standing on a platform above the Thames River for 75 hours and spending 44 hours being buried alive. These stunts had no external support. Furthermore, he trapped himself in an ice casing for 63 hours and survived without any food. He also stood on top of the New York building and allowed people to shoot him with paintballs. In the end, he came out without any injuries that amazed the people. Blaine also tried to set a new Guinness World Record for holding his breath for a record time.
