Lindbergh Airport

Located in San Diego, USA, it began operations on August 16, 1928. About 550 planes take off and land each day at the airport during peak traffic hours, from 8am to 10pm. Due to the impact of the overall area of the airport, the runway is built shorter, and there is a parking lot 183 meters away from the end of the runway. Also, because of the terrain, the plane descended a little higher than usual before touching down. Under such factors, it is undoubtedly a huge test for pilots.

In September 1978, Pacific Southwest Airlines Flight 182, taking off from Sacramento and preparing to land at Lindbergh Field, did not see a passing Cessna, causing the two planes to collide. A total of 144 people lost their lives in this accident.

Madeira Funchal Cristino Ronaldo Airport

Based in Portugal and started operations on July 18, 1964. Built on the seaside surrounded by mountains, the airport runway extends from the middle of the mountain to the ocean. Due to the terrain, the climate here is changeable, and there will be strong winds from time to time, and there are many seabirds around the coast, which will fly everywhere from time to time, which will have a huge impact on the take-off and landing of aircraft.

But the biggest hidden danger of the airport is not these, but the runway. The airport's original runway was only 1500m long. In 1977, a TAP Air Portugal flight 727 carrying 164 passengers and crew had an accident due to the short runway. The fuselage skidded off the runway, killing all 131 people. Although the length of the runway was finally extended by more than 1,200 meters and built directly into the sea, there are still potential safety hazards.

St Barts Gustave III Airport, St Barths, France

Started operation in 1945, the airport was built in a mountain range with mountains on three sides. Due to the small size of the airport, the runway can only be made very short.

In this special geographical location, the approach route has also become very complicated. The plane has to approach from the difficult water surface, and there is a road directly below the route, which makes the traffic even worse. This undoubtedly brings a huge test to the pilots, and it is said that pilots with special licenses are required to land here.

Honduras Stegutin Airport

Located in Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, and began operations on January 5, 1934, the airport was built in the towering Madre Mountains. Due to the surrounding terrain and the short runway of the airport, the aircraft had to descend quickly for approach.

According to statistics, since 1984, there have been an average of 3 to 4 accidents overrunning the runway every month, and of course there are more serious ones. In 1989, a passenger plane that did not follow the prescribed approach sequence crashed directly into the ground, killing 127 of the 146 passengers and crew on board. In May 2008, a Central American Airlines A320 fell from a height of 20 meters, killing three people on board and two on the ground.

Nepal Lukla Airport

Built in the hinterland of the Himalayas at an altitude of 3,000 meters, it is also known as Tensin Hillary Airport. Taking off and landing at Lucara airport is more difficult than the other four airports. It is an uncontrolled airport. The ground center cannot control the aircraft taking off and landing. They can only inform the pilots of the weather and runway conditions, and the rest is It is up to the pilots themselves, and there is no turning back when opening the bow. Once they choose to land, they can only rely on their own skills. In the past few years, there have been many accidents, most of which are due to take-off and landing, and the degree of danger can be imagined.
