The World's Best Historical True Story is Ponniyin Selvan.

Most people concur that Ponniyin Selvan is the best work of Tamil literature ever produced. Before being made into a book, it was first published in the 1950s as a series in the Tamil-language magazine Kalki (Written by Ponniyan Selvan Novel).

1. Is the historical narrative by Ponniyin Selvan restricted to the Cholas?

The Cheras, Cholas, Pandyas, and Pallavas have all been covered in my history class.

We need to look into a few intriguing details of this historical record.

During the reign of Karikala Cholan in the second century AD, Kallanai was built. A British general rebuilt it in the 19th century, and it is still in use today.

We are pleased with the Kallanai dam, which King Karikala Cholan created out of rocks in the second century. Although our classification system recognises the Cheras, Cholas, Pandyas, and Pallavas as four separate dynasties, they were together referred to as Dravidians. In monarchies, only males were eligible for succession, which frequently occurred from father to son. It was forbidden for women and the general public to hold political office.

What life would have been like if democracy had taken the place of the monarchy is unknown. Around that time, a specific type of evolution predominated and continued to this day. And because the monarchy has always been a popular form of government in many nations, we too had one before the British arrived. There are benefits and drawbacks to the royal system.

But our leaders have made a substantial contribution to the wellbeing of our country. Even though we sometimes make fun of rich and powerful people, affluent rulers were the driving force behind advancement in ancient days. Some rulers, nevertheless, were unable to make good use of it. Our nation has been ruled by a number of formidable leaders.

2. Let's take a look at Ponniyin Selvan's origins and how he came to be!

Despite Karikala Cholan's construction of The Great Kallanai, the Chola Dynasty did not advance throughout the second century.

In the sixth and seventh century, battle was frequently fought between the Pallavas and the Pandyas, who ruled over Madurai and the Telugu region, respectively. Vijayalaya Chola takes advantage of the opportunity to defeat the Pandyas, take over Tanjore, and establish it as their capital. Only the Pandyas and Pallavas are in existence in the sixth and seventh centuries, and he also subdues Madurai.

The focus of Kalki's "Parthiban Kanavu" is these wars. It portrays a Chola monarch by the name of Parthiban's desire to elevate the Chola dynasty to the position of supreme authority. Parthiban predicts that a monarch will achieve his purpose in 300 years before he dies in Warfield. This is also where the story of Ponniyin Selvan begins.

3. Beginning of Ponniyin Selvan's story

In the sixth and seventh century, the Chola kingdom was ruled by the Pallava-Pandyas. With a fierce desire to find Tanjore, Vijayalaya Chola faced the Pandyas in combat and defeated them. Then Parantaka Chola, the son of Vijayalaya Chola, defeats the Pallavas. Beginning with this victory, the Chola kingdom was established. Sundara is the name of Parantaka Cholan's grandchild.

Ponniyin Selvan, another son of Sundara Cholan. Actually, this is where Ponniyin Selvan's story begins. Despite the fact that we were controlled by a number of Chola kings, only Raja Raja Cholan and Rajendra Cholan (the latter of whom was Raja Raja Cholan's son) were regarded as great leaders. Each Raja Raja Cholan and Rajendra Cholan expanded their respective kingdoms to include Malaysia and Sumatra by conquest. Raja Raja Cholan expands his kingdom through conquest to include Sri Lanka.

The father-son team is vital to the development of the Chola dynasty. Mannar Mannan's historical novel "Raja Raja Cholan" and Balakumaran's "Udaiyar" both contain details on the water management, voting system, and architectural design of Raja Raja Cholan. These stories help us to understand why the Cholas are better than other kings.

4. Made the decision to build the Big Temple there.

Raja Raja Cholan was a marketing guru as well as a pioneer in the field of architectural technology. The Tanjore Brihadishvara temple's brilliant creative and architectural design never ceases to astound us. Mannar Mannan praises Raja Raja Cholan for having the vision to build a temple that will stand for a millennium.

Early emperors adopted the practise of utilising "Meikeerthi," Tamil inscriptions that indicate gifts provided by South Indian kings. He also included a description of them in his "Meikeerthi" work so that future generations would be able to comprehend Raja Raja Cholan's noble deeds. However, Rajendra Cholan's son attempted to make his father renowned by issuing coins featuring Raja Raja Cholan. Raja Raja Cholan's successors added to his notoriety and his knowledge of science, architecture, etc.

Many people contributed to the construction of the Tanjore temple, but only their names are listed in the inscription; the techniques used were kept a secret. However, specifics are stated, like the location of the acquisition, the types of rocks and sand used, and the techniques employed to determine the weight of the rock for practical application. The Cholas chose to build the Big Temple in Tanjore because it was the safest place after a few of their cities were destroyed by floods.

Ponniyin Selvan's work discusses all four dynasties. Sundaracholan's grandmother is one such Chera princess. Chinna and Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar are now visible. After cutting off a Chola's head, Veerapandiyan takes the name "Uthamaseeli Thalaikonda Kopperungesari Veerapandiyan". When the Cholas decide to exact revenge without beheading Veerapandiyan, Sundara Cholan is able to overthrow the Pandyas.

To exact retribution for the death of Uthamaseeli, he sows animosity in Adhitha Karikalan from an early age and chops off Veerapandiyan's head! Veerapandiyan Thalai Konda Kopparakesari Adhitha Karikalan was his name.

5. The unanswered enigma surrounding Aaditha Karikalan's passing

Raja Raja Cholan did not succeed Aaditha Karikalan Uthama Cholan, commonly known as Madurandangan, as the king of the Cholas. Raja Raja Cholan disappeared without a trace over the course of those 14 years. These puzzles are real, both in the book and in life.

Aditha Karikalan intends to commit suicide in order to exact revenge for Veerapandian's murder. Their onslaught was directed towards the Chola dynasty. Kalki has created a number of false identities in order to murder Aaditha Karikalan. We have inscriptional proof against Veerapandyan, Ravidasan, and Soman Sambavan. They connect them to events like the death of Aaditha Karikalan, the battle between the Chola and Pandya tribes, etc.

6. Starting with PS-1, the performers will portray such well-known personalities.

We still honour Raja Raja Cholan because of his vision and actions that made that vision a reality. He had statues and paintings created of him. He is honoured in Pondicherry with a statue. Tanjore also has a duplicate of the statue. The results of his efforts to increase his notoriety among others are now evident. The film and its trailer helped bring his fame to Las Vegas, though his goals at the time were unknown.

People who are familiar with history have also read this description of the past. An attempt is made to write a book about the Cholas, which sparks an inquiry. Ponniyin Selvan has been the subject of multiple previous filmmaking endeavours, all of which were made possible by Mani Ratnam and his ensemble cast of A-list performers. The fact that real people we know and love are playing the characters is nice.

Conclusion

Ponniyin Selvan is a fictional character in a film directed by MGR, a political leading actor in Tamil cinema. However, this moment had to arrive. Each participant must have a unique connection to the film Ponniyin Selvan. According to one theory, all of our DNA is related to that of a single old woman. Two individuals that share a gene have engaged in conflict, misled one another, and planned ways to hurt one another.

It is noteworthy even though the Cholas' rule coincided with significant world events. You should all make an effort to educate oneself about Chola's accomplishments in addition to seeing the movie.
