The Big C
Number three

"Yesterday is gone, tomorrow has yet to come. We have only today." - Mother Teresa
This quote showed up just a couple months after finishing chemotherapy in 2013, and it is a good reminder for me every year!
I've written about cancer several times before. And I've written at least twice before about the Big C. The big C is Cancer see.
I almost forgot that today is also the eighth of the month, a rhyme day for me.
So, this story will have to be both about the big C and it needs to rhyme too.
In 2013 a report from John's Hopkins came out saying several things about cancer and several were helpful for me and may be for some of you.
After having chemo, I was told here that is not the only way to eliminate cancer, as there is an alternative way.
We all have cancer cells in our bodies, when none show up it isn't because they are not there, it is only because the tests don't show them until they reach detectable size they say.
They said, they show up six to ten times in a person's lifetime, and they may go away when the person has a strong immune system that is tough enough to destroy and stop the cells from multiplying and making tumors.
With cancer we have nutritional problems, and they can be caused by genetics, the environment, the food we eat and other life factors, and this is not just rumors.
Chemotherapy and radiation can cause organ damage, and the immune system is in trouble. My immune system didn't work right after chemo, and I was always getting sick until I started to investigate and my efforts I did double.
My immune system was destroyed from chemotherapy, which John Hopkins said could happen after chemo or radiation. So, I found a "Cancer lady" close to home that told me things like, balance hormones, starve cancer, it likes sugar, feed it oxygen, try the chi machination.
Cancer cells do not do well in an oxygenated body so daily exercise and deep breathing and that is why the chi machine helps, and there is also oxygen therapy.
She said that sugar substitutes are harmful with aspartame, like NutraSweet, and Equal. And that the cancer cells thrive in an acidic environment and to eat less beef especially, and meat in general. Eat fish and a little chicken.
Turns out I am allergic to beef now, so no problem for me in avoiding the antibiotics, growth hormones, and parasites, especially harmful to people with cancer, and isn't that the dickens.
Filtered water and green tea are better drinks for me. Although I am mostly an herbal tea person. I was introduced to Essiac/Ezzeac/Renee's tea which I have been using for years. No more tears. I have sniffles or a cough some mornings and within an hour of taking the essiac my sniffles, cough are gone.
I was taught to keep a positive spirit by my cancer group who are not just survivors but are rather thrivers, as with it I am sure to be a cancer warrior, a survivor as the research showed as well.
No recurrence of cancer for me since ending chemo in May of 2013. I recognize some of the above suggestions may have new research, as I am always running into eat butter, no eat margarine, especially in my teens.
I think butter has been okay for some time now, but you never know what the new research has to say until sometimes ten years later or more.
My hope is to stick around long enough to see all my grandchildren grown and with families of their own. I hope to do what I am put here to accomplish and there is still much more to be done for sure.

Author’s Note: I forgot to mention that out of 6 children born to my mother, two of us have had cancer and one started treatment in the fall. One died at 53 from leukemia, and I have had no recurrence for 13 years, and our oldest brother just finished radiation. Kind of important as I did mention the Big C, number three after all. 😉❤️
