Observations On Vocal Notifications
Introduction I was not sure whether to put this together but think it is fine to do this now. Notifications of any type can sometimes be useful and sometimes be annoying. I find Facebook particularly awful, I will mark them as all read and then a few hours later they will all reappear in my feed.

The Benefits of Being A Vocal Member
Introduction I have been a member of Vocal for twenty-one months now, and the fact I am still here, with over nine hundred and fifty stories shows that I am still appreciative of this generally excellent platform. In my time I have seen a lot of people leave, complaining that they are not getting Top Stories, Challenge Wins or general recognition by the platform, despite the fact when you join Vocal tell you that it is your responsibility to promote yourself and provide a lot of resources to help you do that. which you can dip into in the link below.

Vocal Top Creators
Introduction I actually take notice of Vocal Top Creators in the various communities. This is something that changes slowly in some instances and seems stagnant in others. This is is just a few thoughts on how it could be simply improved and possibly get engagement for people who are designated as a Top Creator.

The Importance Of The Facebook Vocal Groups
Introduction As I edge toward my thousandth Vocal published story, I realise that the only reason that I have got here is because of the support and encouragement that I have got from friends and members of the groups that have allowed me the freedom to share my work.

480 Stories in 2.5 Years
In May 2021, my gift to myself was to write on Vocal Media. I had been reading on medium.com but not as a member, and not even every month for several years. I love to read. I didnβt know I would love to write. I knew I had a lot of stories that werenβt written, and I have even more now.

Banaban Tradition of Frigate Bird Snaring / Taming
Today, the majority of the Banaban community resides on Rabi Island, Fiji, with only around 300 Banabans inhabiting their homeland in the Kiribati Islands group. The traditional Banaban ritual of te kabwane eitei, also known as frigate bird snaring, has been lost due to various factors. These include the introduction of Christianity in the late 1980s, the arrival of te I-Matang's (Europeans) in 1900 following the discovery of phosphate, and the forced removal of Banabans from their homeland by invading Japanese forces in 1943 during World War II.
