A Conjunction of Change

I think it is safe to say the first half of 2024 has delighted us with some wonderful celestial sights. With a solar eclipse in April. The Aurora Borealis in May...

What does June have in store for us? Well, as of 3rd June, six planets in our solar system are aligned. These planets were Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus.

Now if you're like me and completely missed it. Don't worry, you can still see the alignment, but you might need a telescope handy. Besides, with all the sights in the sky, why not get a telescope? If you are going to buy something, buy one of those!

But what if you don't have the money for a telescope? Times are tough and cash is spent. I get it. Find somewhere with little light pollution and get gazing!

Then I thought about my previous article, Tales of the Aurora Borealis. An article about the myths and legends surrounding the Northern Lights.

Which you can read here:

Naturally, I wondered how the ancients viewed planetary alignment. The ancients regarded celestial events and planetary movements for all kinds of reasons.

The ancient Egyptians carefully tracked the rising time of the bright star Sirius, whose yearly cycle corresponded with the flooding of the River Nile which they relied upon to sustain their crops.

Ancient civilisations such as Babylon used astrology because they believed the answers to the future were written in the stars. They are known as the first astronomers scanning the night sky about 6000 years ago. They created star maps, established planetary patterns and even constructed watch towers purely for stargazing purposes.

"Records provide modern scientists with a treasure trove of historical astronomical data, including a cuneiform description of a massing of planets in BC 185.

On March 25 of that year, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn all shared a small portion of the sky."

The Mayans lived the lives under cycles and rhythms of the universe. Just like many civilisations throughout human history. They also emphasised the correlation between time and space. Believing that the purpose of humanity was to count the days of creation and maintain the sacred calendars of the cycles of time.

An Assoicate Professor at the University of Southern California, Cavan Concannon believed this was a way for the Mayans to write themselves into a part of the cosmos.

These civilisations saw a world of stars, planets and clouds that lived and moved through the sky and were manifestations of their ancestors, who they believed were playing a major role in the operation of their universe.

Concannon continues:

"I'm not certain that it's a question of whether they got it right or wrong. Contemporary science is, itself, a constantly evolving conversation and at some point, everything that we thought we knew about the universe is going to change.

The ancients made their way through the universe in a way that made sense to them and lived their lives in that context. I think we're still doing that."

Celestial events bridge the gap between today's stargazers with ancient observers. Although we have modern science to explain how these things happen. Science has yet to answer all the questions in the universe. Like why are we here? What is the meaning of life? (42) The same questions ancient were also asking.

As such, I think instinctively humans attach sentiment and meanings to things and events like these. I believe we seek to find some spiritual significance. When scientific theory cannot explain things, people often fall back and rely on faith and believes. It provides the believer comfort and gives them a sense of direction. How different are we really from our ancient relatives?

Contemporary society automatically assumes it is intellectually superior to that of our ancestors. When we quickly forget, it's the same DNA, same traits and same intelligence, passing through the generations. It is only our collective knowledge that changes.

According to modern astrologers, conjunctions (planetary alignment), represent times of new beginnings, when old cycles end and new ones begin. The outer planets of our solar system, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, move into new signs. These are the planets that allude to individual change, leading to similar changes in the collective consciousness.

Jupiter and Mercury will be in Gemini. Jupiter, the expansion planet, is linked to luck and abundance. This conjunction will encourage you to explore new ways of connecting with others. Which coincides with the communicator planet Mercury, which will bring focus on communication, analysis, and facts.

Mars, known as the action planet, will be in Aries. This means fierce passion for any project you might work on or are involved with. Mars in Aries allows us to overcome obstacles that may get in our way of achieving success. After all, Mars' energy is warrior-like.

Uranus is referred to as the progressive planet. Linked with new ideas and innovations. With Uranus in Taurus, we will naturally want to look at things with a different perspective while keeping ourselves grounded. In other words, not to run away with our ideas in a reality that won't accommodate for them.

With the action, expansion and communication planets in conjunction with one another, this is a great time for people to go for the goals and dreams. While working together to build something new.

Last, both Neptune and Saturn will be in Pisces. Neptune, the ruling house of Pisces, encourages us to dive into our creativity. The Piscean focus is on emotion and spirituality, merging with Neptune's pull to unify all things.

With Saturn also in Pisces, we may find ourselves more willing to take on responsibility. Saturn is associated with authority, so we might be more parental and disciplinary about the changes we make.

To summarise, now is the time for a great change in and around your life. I think it's great the universe is encouraging us to be more creative and innovative while keeping us grounded so we don't run off with the fairies, which as a Pisces I can confirm this happens a lot.

Consider how much has already changed in our world, and how bigger changes our coming like the election in both the UK (4th July) and the US, (5th November).

The universe is asking us to communicate clearly with Jupiter while sticking to the facts with Mercury. But we need to be mindful and have clarity with Neptune. Our actions in Mars keep us disciplined with the shadow of Saturn, but can change our perspectives to help us achieve our successes in Uranus.

Planetary alignment is perfect for change and manifestation, and just like our ancestors, we still apply these theories and observations to our modern life. Of course, this is all interpretation based, so have a think about the change within your life and how this will change the collective consciousness.

Don't forget Newton's Law, for every action has a reaction, and the universe is crying out for some positive, creative progression.

I also want to stress that if your zodiac is Aquauris, Pisces, Aries or Taurus, you will probably feel these changes a lot more than the other zodiac signs.

Haha great...

So calling all creatives, it is our time to change the world by creating something new. Let us build a progressive and innovative society, with leaders that are disciplined and can see others' perspectives rather than their own. Greedy pricks.

Happy stargazing! Manifest, manifest, manifest!!!

P.S: Don't you think it's weird that the UK election is on American Independence day while the US is on Bonfire Night in Britain?

I guess the universe has a way with things.
